Note: All reviews by Blackchain119 are based solely on the anime itself and ignores all related manga; if the story does not hold up in the anime, no matter what length it is, then they failed in their efforts to make an effective, engaging show.

Overview:

This anime expertly combines sci-fi, mystery, comedy, philosophy, and romance. It is widely regarded as one of the best animes of all time, if not the best. Any critic would find it hard to argue the point; this show is astoundingly entertaining.

The Good

Voice Actors: One of the only animes where both Original Japanese and English Dub are almost equally entertaining. While the lines change somewhat in translation, it is always in character. Both English and Japanese voice actors do a tremendously wonderful job.

Visuals: Between the flawless editing, perfect transitioning, and gentle colouring, this show leaves you enraptured in it's magnificent visual styles.

Music: Beautiful, enthralling, and sometimes haunting music. Each track perfectly suits each situation.

Character Development: Characters each have exactly that; character. They all have their quirks, but each has a clear bond with the rest of the personalities, and this bond is evident in the best and worst of situations. The show would not be the same if a single character was left out. Even amongst the secondary and tertiary characters, their personalities shine in their own parts.

Story: Something of a blend of a sci-fi writer and conspiracy theorist's fanfiction, this show pulls off a concept that could easily have been swept away as a silly idea and turns it into a masterpiece of storytelling and heartwrenching drama. The story transcends simple writing to the realm of art.

The Bad

Plot Holes: Any time-travel story has a plot hole or two, but those in this show are minimal, acceptable, and easily go unnoticed. Truly the only flaw I could find in this anime, and it had such little presence that I could not feel right removing even a fraction of a point over it.

The Ugly

It is hard enough to find a flaw in this show, let alone a glaring fault.

Final Impressions

The show that rekindled my previously dead interest in the sci-fi genre of anime. A spectacular feat of genuine excellence. This anime takes the well-deserved top spot as my single favourite of all time, and tops the lists of many other reviewers as well.

Yes, Steins Gate is a fantastic anime production. It's unfortunately not on CR though.

It is a pity. I hope no one minds that I am not limiting my reviews to Crunchyroll available shows.
