80086, dual 5.25" floppies, no hdd, it had something stupid like 16kb of ram. wasnt until I had that 286 that I had a nice 10mb hdd in it.

I remember how blazing fast that 486 was when it came out, and I played DOOM over a 9600 baud connection with a buddy...but we didnt play a lot because it dropped. a LOT. over at his house, we had to reboot the computers with a different disk to enable networking. fkn 1990 lan party, lol.

I have no clue anymore but it definitely was the equivalent of a toaster in terms of processing power.

The one I own is a Windows 10 with 100 GB of memory (Half taken up by system files) on Hard Drive C, and a Data drive with nearly a terabyte of data. I'm not in the mood to use Speccy right now, so I'll just tell you that there is at least that much. Not mentioning ram or anything like that.

100GB of memory ?

for a pc/laptop? that's a lot of memory..

maybe you are referring to storage size instead ?

First computer I remember was a Commodore 64. We had the cassette tape drive to go with it. We also had access to an Apple II during summer time, taking it home from school. We got an IBM PC, the very first PC they put out.

Now, the very first computer I ordered for myself had a whopping 512KB of ram, a 40 MB hard drive...and I can't remember much beyond that.

I don't remember the specs of my first pc.... it was windows 3.1 or 3.11
My first laptop on the other hand was a toshiba satellite very similar to the picture in the spoiler tags. If I remember right it was 33mhz and had 8mb of ram with a 100mb hard-drive. It was windows 3.1 and I later upgraded it to windows 95. I actually still have it in storage, played a lot of moonlander and jezzball on it when I was a kid. It also had the best mouse out of any laptop I've owed since, not a track pad or little rubber button in the middle of the keyboard.

Just so some less tech savy people can understand the difference between their current PC's and the ones in this post:
1ghz of processing power = 1,000 mhz
1gb = 1,024 or 1,000mb (there are two major measuring systems)
1tb = 1,024 or 1,000gb respectively or 1,048,576 mb in binary and 1,000,000mb decimal.

Modern PC's are really monsters compared to what a lot of us started with.

The first PC I had was taken away before I could do anything with it, but the earliest one I remember having had the Q6600, HD 3650 (256MB DDR3), and 4GB DDR2 RAM @ 800Mhz. For the time I had it, it was a pretty badass PC (well, everything aside from the GPU)
