A lot of people put too much faith in the polls.

I look at polls (stats basically) the same way I do as stat boys use them in sports. They tell a great deal of the story, trends, plausible expectations, but they never tell you the intangibles. They're just really good guesses and what ifs.

Thing is, he IS the candidate the Republicans wanted--The voters, if not the politicians.
Republicans believe that Being Angry will impress people, which a lot of people believe on Friday night. They're usually wrong, and why they wish for a world where people WILL be impressed if you throw insults around, and joke about what you'd love to do to all those weird people out there "causing" all those problems that bother you on the TV news.

That was what the Republican party consisted of, until they found someone that they wished was telling them they could get mad at BOTH parties, and take over, so there, how'dja like THAT, McFly?
What they wanted was a political Peter Pan, who would tell them that they didn't have to grow up. Usually the bullies don't do well after high school, so they looked for a fantasy where someone did.

When I was a kid, my dad would get angry when he had to, so I grew up with a genuine traumatized distate of anger--I couldn't believe that people I shared DNA with could be capable of such things. There was no place for it in the human condition, and I was appalled to see anyone use it and humiliated to be seen using it:
I called it "the Caveman Poison", that humans were failures for not having enough intelligence to leech out of their system, and thought those who strung themselves out on it were "drug addicts" who should be treated as such--You got a better name for "adrenaline"?

Well...now you get to see what it looks like. Let's watch it Make America Great Again, or at least that's what the drooling undershirted drug-addicts think it will do. Let's watch a lot of Trump supporters post .Gifs of Hillary being stomped on and sent to prison, and thrill to what a nation we are. Let's laugh at strangers, and be poor winners. Let's let someone we've never met be "our" victory, and tell our enemies he's going to beat them up for us. Let's bully our neighbors, and turn them into nameless symbols of our own childish tantrums at our own political frustrations.
That's because we're ADULTS, you see, and old enough to get to do whatever we want.

At least you are being honest and gracious about when you are wrong, unlike both candidates.

I honestly had no idea what was going to happen. I was prepared for the shit storm either way. I just hope the country does not implode and people act like you have.

As a Mexican living in Mexico, you should be the last person complaining that our leader doesn't act like a proper head of state. Vincente Fox, anyone? You also should be the last one complaining about segregation, unless you've managed to fix that mestizo problem overnight. And let's not talk about how Mexico treats their illegal immigrants from Central America, South America and anywhere else.

As a Californian, I agree with the Texan. I am tired of illegal immigrants being given free services while we treat our veterans like garbage. Should definitely be the other way around.

Part of Clinton's strategy was manipulating the media to make her seem like the inevitable winner. That should have been clear after the primaries. I think a lot of people, myself included, underestimated Trump and his support.

And to think we could have had Sanders. I hope young liberals go fucking crazy over this.

Like I said in the other thread, this is all I can do right now

Math matters little. What you need to do is talk to real people around the US. And by real people, I don't mean the people you meet on like minded internet sites. You need to speak with those living in small towns, who see the one main industry in their town closing up shop, moving overseas and everyone losing their source of income. Not once did Hillary ever say how she would combat this. She was too focused on telling everyone to vote for her because she wasn't Trump.

Hillary lost in the regions of the US where people are dependent on one or two large businesses in their town.

I agree with you to a point...I'm sure people did vote Trump for that reason only....and I can see that.

But let's be honest; people also voted because they wanted to stick it to anyone not white. Trump actually succeeded in convincing people that Mexicans and Muslims are coming to fucking kill you. And honestly, if you're LGBT...maybe you should go to Canada. Because your rights just got destroyed.

I early voted to roll the dice and it looks like that's what we are doing. I hope I am right about him playing to the unspoken frustration of core republicans to win this election. Hopefully the facade will fade and we will see how he handles things going forward. Successful businessmen put talented people in the best positions to succeed, they delegate the tough jobs to those who have the tools to make good things happen.

This is the chance I wanted to take, the chance at real change. The candidate that didn't win the endorsements of the donating elite. Early on I was actually hoping for Bernie... I will continue to vote to get the right supporting cast.
