So I was curious about characters in anime that have "shark-like" teeth. Is there any kind of significance or meaning behind it? I always thought one of two things.

1. A trait to show off an aggressive nature.
2. Imperfect teeth. I think I remember in one show (I don't remember which) they mentioned his teeth being imperfect and he had shark teeth.

I've felt like it's option 1
Though sometimes it just makes sense..
Agito in Air Gear got a bit of shark-like teeth along with his eye but he's got the fang reglia, is the fang king, shark, little shark etc.

You do tend to notice that they are pretty brash.

Pretty sure all 7 Swordsmen of the Mist (or whatever they were called) had shark teeth.

Generally they're just used to show a character trait without outright saying it. Shark teeth characters (usually) are more aggressive or competitive.
Kind of like how a single fang usually means the character is energetic or something along those lines.
Example:

so yup, option 1 is usually the answer.

I'd say option #1. Viral's teeth (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) were more prominent when he was younger and the aggressive opponent.
