So, tell me what is the different in simply liking yourself over being arrogant? Is liking yourself seen as arrogant?

What do you think?

That's very much like asking 'what is the difference between eating an apple and punching a baby in the face'.

Arrogance is an attitude and a lifestyle. It goes beyond merely things like "I'm right and you're wrong. I'm big and you're little. I'm smart and you're dumb." It's where you single handedly save a burning building from a dog, and claim all the glory for every action that remotely has any benefit at all. It's where everything that fails, even if you were involved, had nothing to do with your own actions.

Liking yourself is merely having a positive self-image and confidence.

Interestingly, you can find several people on this forum who display arrogance in very, very different ways. Some with strong, divisive words, and some with mush-mouthed platitudes.

If you like yourself that is narcissism. You can appreciate yourself without being narcissistic.
Arrogance is when people think they are always right and overconfidence. This forum is full of those people.

Definition from Merriam-Webster
Arrogant - exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner

Liking yourself only really has to do with... yourself. Arrogance affects the people around you in a bad way. There's more to it than that, but they are definitely not the same thing.

For all those who saw Xanadu and didn't know Gene Kelly could skate--

From "It's Always Fair Weather", where Kelly's ne'er-do-well character is traumatically depressed after seeing his old Army buddies' success at a reunion, but finds a girl anyway:

Someone who likes themself:
"Thanks for the advice on my writing. I see what you mean about my writing style needing to adapt to the reader. I'll think about that but I can't promise I'll change it."

Fan:
"Glad I could be of some assistance."
---------------
Arrogant Snot:
"You don't like my writing? screw you! It's perfect as it is! I'm not changing it for you aor anyone else you just suck...go away and die!"

Fan:
"But all I said is you misspelled their ..."

Believing in yourself is self-confidence; arrogance is conceit.

Liking yourself = a normal human

Arrogant = another normal human being.

Difference= the normal human is slightly different from the other normal humans way of thinking.

The real question is. Does someone piss you off? If you answered yes, that means you like yourself enough to find a reason not to respect someone.

Arrogance is disrespect. Liking yourself is respect. Liking another person is respect.

Like this one arrogant prick. I hate his guts, but I like myself enough to talk to him with a respectable tone. Now that's fucking dedication. Even though I would love to just not even speak to him, I like myself enough to be the better man.

Arrogance is strength from weakness , or power from skill, but in the end there will always be someone who would gladly match you for everything you have. It doesn't matter who the fuck you are.

Liking yourself isn't arrogant, liking yourself for being arrogant is arrogant "Humms 2020"
