I realize it's more or less apart of our culture in this day and age, but how do you guys cope with the lack of sleep you sacrifice for anime? I've been watching anime for about ten years, so I feel that I should be an expert on this. In all honesty though, I feel like I have gotten worse at dealing with the whole hardly ever sleeping thing. Any tips?

I prioritize sleep before the majority of things in my life.

I get at least a good 6 and a half hours of sleep every night, so I'm fine.

Tip: Go to sleep earlier.

Sometimes I have to force myself to watch one or two episodes of whatever show I'm on instead of bingeing 5 or 6 at a time, or delay catching up on my simulcasts until the weekend. As much as I love anime, sleep (usually) takes priority.

I value sleep more than anime.

I've moved this to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

I do not sacrifice sleep for anime.

I do watch a lot of anime but that's because I'm mostly a homebody and don't socialize much. So I usually have time to watch a couple of episodes when I get home from work each day, and also fit in some anime-watching time on weekends between house chores. Doing that, I can still get to bed early enough to get up for work in the morning.

Meh, sleep happens, whether I want it to or not. In fact, I'm sleeping right now.

Whether it be anime, a late night out, or some other distraction, coping with a lack of sleep is always much easier with a steady stream of caffeine. Of course, it isn't the best for you and after you stop consuming caffeine the crash sucks. So still has some cons.

A healthier way than caffeine can be a good dose of vitamins, either from a super-food smoothie or a supplement. Obviously, for most people, including myself, that won't be enough to keep you from being tired.

For me it is usually just an energy drink or two. I have been avoiding those lately and just worked on getting to bed sooner. Typically my downfall is gaming or having company over.

I love anime but when I don't sleep, I get headaches and talk like Satan. So sleep wins.
