Should I Do Leg Lengthening To Be Taller?
Posted 22 days ago
Hi, I am considering going through leg lengthening to be 4 inches taller. I am currently 6ft solid and 195lb. I want to be around 6'5 with shoes on.

It costs about 100k for 3-4 inches, and 2 years of recovery depending on if I go with internal rods or external rods.

I've always been self conscious about my height even after getting my growth spurt from 5'6 to 6ft. I just don't think I look good enough. Should I risk not ever walking again AND 100k to gain my dream height?

I mean, do whatever you want. If you're asking though, then I would say definitely don't do that.

Exactly: Whether it's bodybuilding, unreasonable use of body modification or anorexia, Wanting To be Something Else is the border of where "Body improvement" becomes "Mental personal issues".

(Leg lengthening was developed as treatment for dwarfism, which helps the symptoms but not the problem--
And if you're not a midget, and want it just because it'd make you feel cooler, that's when you got to stop asking yourself some serious questions and start asking them to a licensed professional.)

You should definitely do it.

I cannot look at that picture....

You are really going to cut your legs in half and spend 2 years crippled and in agony while you grow new bone all for 4 inches in height? You also run the risk of getting addicted to pain killers.

Come on, don't do that to yourself. In 15-20 years you will be a flabby old man like the rest of us no matter what you do.

That sounds painful, and counterproductive to bodybuilding as you'd spend months if not years recovering. Having undergone fairly major internal surgery myself, I would not recommend anything that wasn't medically necessary.

You have $100k? And you're going to blow it on making yourself taller? When you're already 6ft tall? That just seems crazy to me. I get where you're coming from (I was one of the shortest kids in my school k-12 until I went through a massive growth spurt in my senior year of high school), but 6ft is pretty much the perfect height. Any taller and you start hitting your head on shit when you walk through doors or have no leg room in cars and airplanes. I'd recommend putting your money into something useful instead of risking never walking again for a few extra inches.
