So I shopping this morning and went to get a dozen eggs and noticed Brown egg were $2 more a dozen. So I thought "they cost more they must be better" Lucky my much smarter wife stopped me and told me "Just get the White eggs there is no difference other then the color of the shell" But I really wondred if that was true so I got home and found out the shocking truth "Big Egg" has been lying to us

Back in the day, there was an ad campaign in my area with a catchy jingle that went "Brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh."

That would be because in my area the hens laying eggs were more likely to be brown egg layers.

Fresh always sounds better because there's this general thought that nutrients might leach away over time, or, worse yet, that if not fresh, something is on the way to rotten.

I imagine that if you lived in an area where brown eggs were shipped in from far away, they would be considered less fresh and thus less good.

And now I shall actually watch that video to see what it has to say.

"Like humans whether they are white or brown they are the same inside"

Dropped. You can tell people's race and gender from their skellingtons.

white eggs is much cheaper. Since they aren't fed as much as their brown counterparts.

The reason brown eggs cost more is because they come from chickens that have a big appetite!
And also because they're a bit bigger in size.
These brown feathered chickens eat more and hence are expensive to keep.

PS; this is just copy and paste

Different breeds have different colored eggs, I've gotten eggs that are white, brown, and sometimes blueish/green eggs. There are differences between eggs but it's more dependent upon the diet of the chicken.

Eggs I've seen differ in price according to egg size (small, medium, large), specially fed chicken diet eggs (corn fed/omega rich), duck eggs, quail eggs and goose eggs. None are priced according to colour. I mostly end up with brown eggs because these ones happen to be free range though I sometimes get white.

Other than freshness and sizero there's not much difference. What the chickens are fed and medicated with may have some slight varience in flavor, but color is just a matter of which breed(s) are used.
