Considering how shockingly low the country just lowered its standards for leadership god only knows who or what is going to run in 2020. I mean, may as well right? We've established you can literally be one of the worst human beings in the country and still get handed the most powerful job on Earth.

On a side note I think Chris Rock threw in for 2020 too. -.-

I think the DNC is far too controlling for that.

Michelle Obama has made it clear that she does not plan to run for any public office. I honestly felt that she despised being in the Whitehouse. and pretty much hates everything America stands for. That's my opinion anyway.

Of course you don't.

By not controlling enough I meant they fielded an entire clown car of candidates, didn't take Trump seriously until it was too late and then played "Well, he is absolutely horrible and says horrible things that I categorically denounce.....but I'm still endorsing him". Only wavering when it looked like he might not win. Basically, they started their primary like it was a reality TV show and were surprised when the one guy with a reality TV show ended up winning it.

So yes, the DNC is too micromanaging and the RNC is too willing to hitch their wagon to whatever it takes to win. And the media is too concerned with ratings to bother with journalism anymore to keep the electorate properly informed. This election cycle was just a categorical failure on every level by everyone. I can only hope all involved wake the fuck up and learn from it.

As for changes, god, I could write an essay on the problems with the American political system ( and many have been, for years ) but none of it is really in the realm of possibility. The same system that got you into this mess has also ensured the political entrenchment of everyone that has the power to get you out of it.

While their continues to not be enough political willpower among voters to do anything about it. Americans simply don't care enough in the off season to do anything about the state of their political system. They're numb to this shit now and have lowered their standards so far that now they have Trump heading to the White House.

I mean, everyone fucking hates Congress yet everyone keeps re-electing these assholes to their 6th or 7th term because hey, Congress is useless but obviously its not their congressmen that's part of the problem!

And I mean, I understand on some level. This is all so entrenched and nothing ever changes no matter how you vote. Especially the last 8 years when the GOP basically just said "Fuck the country and fuck governing, we're just going to oppose literally everything the other team does on principle". So the country finally just ground to a complete halt.

While the system itself makes it as difficult to vote as possible to the point where making it as difficult to vote as possible is literally a political strategy ( that the GOP uses to great effect I might add ).

TL;DR: A democracy functions on compromise and you do not get compromise when political parties paint opposing parties as literal enemies instead of colleagues.

She doesn't have a ton of success behind her. And I bet will run on the double-pointed campaign of "Vote for her or you're racist" and "Vote for her or you're sexist." I think a lot of people are getting tired of hearing that.

A lot will come down to if Trump's Presidency is any good. If he proves to be a Winner here, he might get a 2nd term. He's already killed the TPP and has Canada and Mexico open to renegotiate NAFTA. Russia and Syria want to enter talks with the new regime. So much is gonna change in the next 4 years based off how much is going to happen before he even gets into office.

On the reverse side, maybe someone even better from the civilian world will jump in for the Democrats. maybe 2020 will be the year of the 3rd Party. Really too early to call. The contest in 2020 is already a game of 'just name famous people.'

I remember the joke in '08 was that Hillary, like today, told us even less about her policies, only that we should "Vote for her and make history!" Unquote.
And as I went around saying, "Oh no, sorry, I'm too cautious and not the adventurous type, I'll just play it safe, and vote for a regular, plain old boring black president... "

Because with Obama, we didn't feel we were voting for a "black" president. (A problem Kanye West will make us richly aware of...)
We were voting for the Nice Optimistic Populist Smart Guy we hadn't had for eight years with Dubya. And nice, optimistic, populist and smart will always grab more frustrated voters than Wishful Political Safe-Spaces.
Which is what Hillary tried to wagon-circle, and, tbh, what Trump had.

So, no, Michelle won't be Hillary just because she's One A' Dem Skirts or because she was Married to the Last Guy, but she also won't be Hillary because she won't have some evil desire to run.

If Michelle for some reason ran for 2020, I would probably laugh hysterically. Though, if it came down to her and Kayne West in the democratic preliminaries, I would rather her to be the democratic candidate. As to whether (in an unlikely hypothetical scenario) I would vote (or at least root) for her should it come down between Michelle and Trump, it would all depend on Trump's actions in these upcoming 4 years. If he doesn't do too much damage to the country and/or doesn't do anything too bigoted/oppressive, the I'd probably rather keep him. If, however, he proves to be too much of an idiot or a complete bigoted monster, then I would rather have Michelle be president (or any one really).

Then again, I might decide "to heck with the system" and decide to join in on the fun. LadyPsychic (independent) for 2020! Why? Because why vote for the lesser of two evils with you can go with the third option!

there are a lot of parties in the US but for some reason it's just

democrats vs republicans ..

on the voter registration form they listed 5 parties for my state

Democrat
Republican
Green
Libertarian
Independent

this election the bald CIA guy was going to be the independent candidate but he didn't even made it on the ballot

i think it's clear this election that the people are TIRED of

the BUSH and CLINTON

and after 8 years of Obama

i doubt people will vote for another Obama

i'm all for the 1st FEMALE president.. as long they are not corrupted or connected to the Clinton Family

maybe this girl will have a chance

I'd vote for her, unless they start labeling people that don't vote for her.
