For those of you who have been single for more years than you can count on one hand: Does anime fill the void for you?

For me, I'd say it doesn't completely... nothing can really compare to the physical comfort someone who truly loves you can give. But, a good anime definitely gives me an emotional comfort that no other medium can. In times of loneliness, rejection, boredom,... it's something I can turn to that puts a smile on my face when nothing or nobody else can.

Yes, I would say that it does fill a void. However, once the anime finishes, I feel much emptier because it makes me realize how lonely and empty I feel compared to the friendship/romances some characters have...

I totally agree... sometimes it makes me feel like "why can't I experience that depth of emotion IRL?"

I can't speak for everyone, but personally I put up walls to protect myself from getting hurt. This is due to my cynicism, where I think that most relationships will come to an end because people are finicky and ever-changing. Consequently and ironically, this prevents myself or anyone truly having deep/emotional connection.

Edit: I meant to quote xdzzz but forgot to check-mark before posting. Ooops.

Eh, it sure as hell helps. What helps even more though, is staying busy and building closer relationships with friends and family.

Anime can be therapeutic. But sometimes it's like a double-edged sword; it may fill a void in your life, but what it is may be a harsh reminder pertaining to reality.

Idk, I'm not really all that lonely. Honestly I'd probably rather watch anime than deal with a relationship, so whatever.
