I made my dad a hat that says 武士道 for Father's Day and random people always come up to him and
a) stare at the hat and say nothing
b) look at his hat and say "nice hat" without realizing what it means.
I'm too embarrassed to post a picture of that hat

what does it mean?

It means "Bushido," it's like the samurai's code of honor!

I don't know how long ago that was but the correct tactic here is to own up to it and tell him you made those
I mean from his perspective all he would know is probably that you made some funky looking shoes and making things is always cool in a lot of people's books

Wear an Attack on Titan cap on Mt. Rainier for a short bit. Was planning to wear it in Sequoia NP (giant trees).

Princess Mononoke. Surprisingly, an old man (probably in his 60s) working as customs security at Haneda and another man in his 50s who was running a street food stall in Kyoto recognized it immediately. I wasn't surprised that my tattooist in Shibuya and the people who work at Ghibli Museum in Mitaka recognized it but I guess Miyazaki's animation really has a wider audience in that country.

I tried it for the first time when I went to Nagano. It took some getting used to but it was a pain in the neck going up the stairs on them. And entire town was built on a hill.

I like the tattoo and your commitment on getting one. If I where to get a anime tattoo I would want the scar arm tattoos from FMA or a Fate/stay night command seal. But getting a anime or even an anime inspired tattoo is a lot of commitment.

Thanks. I have several tattoos so that makes it easier to finalize the decision. I'm still very selective with what I put on my skin. I'm also very picky with who does it but I'm glad to have a tattooist I can trust in the NYC area. I'm saving the other side of that arm to complete the Mononoke forearm sleeve. I'll put in Ashitaka with Yakul in black, grey, and blue colorway.

Taking this picture right after receiving this full sized Nyanko plush in the mail back in 2013. I usually don't purchase anime merchandise, but I liked this plush. I'm not in the reflection because I used the camera timer and ran away.

It's like nothing and everything with me - I did a lot of stuff, but it's always borderline weeby.
Like I used to have a Japan football jersey for P.E. in school, but being cool about it and was honestly cheering on for them to win, and not being someone who just claimed " Look I'm Japanese and I can speak Japanese, sugoi desu" or stuff like that lol
