Japanese versions are usually better, as some say, possibly because they take voice acting more seriously there. Anime being a big part of industry there, they probably really take voice acting seriously. I heard that they actually have colleges for those who wish to become VAs. In America, I don't think they have schools for voice acting (of course, they do have acting schools, but that's kind of different). Considering that, I think english dubs are pretty impressive. It's not that easy to dub well. It can be hard to find lessons, believe me, I've tried (*wants to be a voice actress*).
If you want to look at it without the facts, english dubs sometimes suck, and sometimes they're quite impressive. It all depends on the VAs and the characters (some characters could be hard to act like sometimes). Of course, I can't guarantee all of this is completely true, considering I'm not Japanese. This is just my take on the whole thing. |

I prefer to watch some shows in English -
Spice And Wolf - Cowboy Bebop - Hellsing are the best three I can think of. I find it funny that people who are not Japanese are so fanatical about "SUB ONLY!!" There are some terrible dubs out there and many are big names like Naruto and One Piece ..... One Piece especially |

I agree! You can't deny the fact that FMA, Angel Beats, & Cowboy Bebop have some pretty awesome dubs!

It really was! Frieza in my opinion was done really well! Maniacally debonair! And I didn't immediately think "Genkai" when I first heard it! I also liked Gohans voice! He actually sounded like a child! |

I generally enjoy the dubs. The only really bad one I can think of is Busou Renkin, but even that had its good moments.

Ya know, subs can suck too. Some do, some don't and the same goes for dubs (that goes for any language). This whole sub/dub thing is getting a little old. I could give examples but people can find them on their own. And yes, of course Japan has a larger selection of voice actors in the anime industry, after all they created it.
