How important does everyone think boycotting is? In a world where money reigns, is there any other way to speak to producers and service providers?

On a very slightly related note:

I just created this group who are boycotting CR subscriptions until concerns are addressed. I'd love to welcome anyone interested:

Hmmm I guess they did charge me, the bastards. I should sue since I clicked on the 'try free' thing. My fault for not reading the agreement I guess.

It's closed. That didn't take long at all.

I need to go get something to eat. Bye.

Before I go eat. You do realize that boycotting means NOT WATCHING ANIME on CR. Right? Not happening, dude. Otaku need their fix.

Even if you got 100 people to boycott their CR premium memberships, they would only be losing about $700 in memberships, which isn't much.

I would like to see a lot more people get on board with this, whether you lean right or left, I think we can agree that mods bringing personal preference into how they wield their authority is no good for anyone. Yesterday's "Safe Space" thread was wrong and should have been nixed out right, but the fact that a mod would not only allow the thread to exist (despite forum rules) but also assist in it by freely deleting any dissenting opinion respectful or not, just blows my mind.

Mods have allowed personal bias to permeate the forums.

Deleted and banned users with dissenting opinion even when expressed in a respectful and appropriate way.

Refused to answer similarly respectful inquiries as to why these actions took place.

I have already cancelled my membership. Until I see those things change, I personally have no interest in paying anything more to crunchyroll. I became a member because I wanted to support an industry I enjoy, but neither the content or supporting the industry relies on crunchyroll. I will take my money elsewhere.

There are so so so so many sites that allow you to enjoy anime commercial free. A 20 second google search will yield those results and many of them are licensed in the same way crunchyroll is so you don't have to have misgivings about hurting the industry.

Closed group only means that I have to accept members. It has not been shut down.

And, yes. I haven't been watching anime, here.

Though, technically, you can still install an ad blocker and leech if you like, accomplishing the same thing.

That's fine, it isn't like we are asking for a lot. We just want CR to remove personal feelings from their moderation and stop bending rules to their own ideologies. Replacing a single mod would be fine, but if they want to lose even 100$ bucks and allow mods to continue their poor behavior, that is their prerogative. I just feel better off not contributing to it.

A group for those on the right side of the political spectrum, in this sea of liberals is a good idea though. I'll join.

per month.

That's $8,400 per year. That's either losing some licensing or someone's getting a pay cut.

That, in turn, drops the quality of the service, which results in more people not paying subs for other reasons.

BUT, supposing that quality doesn't drop, and everyone keeps their pay, that's still $8,400 per year out of profits because CR continues to ignore customer complaints.

AND, that's all supposing people don't stop buying products, etc. From Crunchyroll.

Not yet.

There's just an open forum for people to place their grievances for now. That's enough, for the time being.
