They gained seats in the House and Senate and won the popular vote. So last Tuesday night wasn't a total loss. So where does the party go from here? Does it go in a new direction? Does it turn hard left or more towards the center. Does it purge itself of all the old blood or does all it needs to do is find a new face?

I'm conservative when in comes to 2 issues but everything else I'm liberal or neutral. So I can see myself voting for democrats again if they take a less arrogant tone, open themselves to more criticism and compromise a bit more. Obviously I didn't like the scheming and hope their nomination process becomes more natural, doing away with superdelegates and involving more people in their primary debates.

Well, speaking as a Democrat, we were haunted for twenty-four years by the looming shadow of "Will someone grab a sock and freakin' SHUT UP Lady Macbeth?"
And now, for good or bad....we're at last free from our curse.

It's fresh ground to build new Bernie/Obama-like frustrated-idealist momentum upon from the beginning, especially now that the Republicans have the next four years' choice of being either Impotent or Racist & Wrong, depending on what Trump can actually get done past his fantasies.

I don't think she was being literally or even intended to mention the presidency.

If the Democratic party doesn't start getting more populist on economics they will permanently lose blue collar/working class Democrats to the Republicans. As long as people like Bernie are treated with disgust and as wackjobs from the DNC they deserve to lose.
The reason why they lost is that the Democratic party has been turning more and more cosmopolitan elitist. While that is great for fundraising, it is almost like they completely wrote off a huge chunk of their traditional base and it is not a long term winnable strategy.

To answer the OPs question, they are badly in need of rebranding and new blood in leadership.

Even if they get the White House they still lost the House of Representatives and the Senate and the Supreme Court I don't see them recovering within four years but probably a decade or slightly over a decade.

Truth is they're fucked (for now) and they fucked themselves over; they got no one to blame but themselves or they'll just blame it on racist white people whichever is convenient.

after billions of dollar spent on this election and the Clinton Family

it's time to reorganize and prepapare for 2020

the goal-- take back the house, senate and presidency

1- get off your high horse and go talk with people who are struggling
2- stop surrounding yourself with liked mind-- listen the voices of the opposition

if you hang around with people who will not say no or disagree with you on most sensitive issues.. you are digging yourself in a hole that you might not able to get out of

kind of the the Clinton News Network (CNN)-- now that its master lost the election-- probably due to the reasons i listed above.. continuing on with their mission of spreading propaganda..

white slash? trump won because of racism?

what? 63% of white voted for Trump 2016 while 95% of blacks voted for obama..

the minority also voted for Trump..

the people have spoken-- continue to move forward like it was in 2008 and 2012

if these extremists attacked me when i was on my way to work or destroyed my car.. you will see how this tomboy will respond

They have a shot at the presidency in 4 years, but for the midterms, it is unlikely they will takeover either the House or Senate. They only flipped 5 seats in the House when they needed 30ish to take the majority in the recent election and midterm elections generally favor Republicans. Also Democrats are defending 25 seats in 2018 compared to the Republican 8. In terms of 2020, the Senate doesn't look that great for Democrats either as even though the Republican have 22 seats up for reelection, most of those are in Red states. Though if things go bad the next 2 years a Democratic House after the 2020 election isn't that far fetched.

They have a small shot. The reason why Trump will succeed is because the media has set the bar incredibly low for Trump. When Obama took the office, he was made out to be a miracle worker. When not everyone got what they thought they were promised, he let people down.

I think not rioting, destroying our cities, stopping emergency vehicles or attacking or Trump supporters would be a good start. Seriously, this is neither Freedom of Speech nor a peaceful demonstration.

The real violent ones aren't Trump supporters.
