It's actually far worse for the democrats than most people realize. In Federal elections, the Democratic party poses as a serious contender, but in state gubernatorial and legislative races, Republicans are ridiculously dominant. And when you consider that this is where the future of the party is--the up-and-comers to the future high-profile federal seats, Democrats are losing their future in this country. I don't know whether it's just because the party is banking on controlling the country top-down or they just don't give a shit about state races, but they are seriously fucking themselves for future elections. Republicans are out there building a strong 'minor league' team to recruit from, while dems are just signing old Free Agents that have lost their touch. I mean, they're hoping for what... Fucking Howard Dean? Bernie Sanders? Give me a break.

Not that I'm complaining. If a major party collapses, then maybe the Libertarians can take over. On the other hand, with the way millennials are looking, it seems like a Democratic collapse would be more likely to give us a new Socialist party than a Libertarian one. Oh well.
