So for any Gurren Lagann fans out there, I thought I would share with you guys my awesome Core Drill I had made earlier this year.

This was a custom piece by a Youtuber by the name of Michaelcthulhu (he's the guy that makes all the crazy ass swords).
I messaged him explaining my passion for the show and requested if he could make me a core drill.
Well he did and for a very reasonable price of only $250 USD.

He actually thought he might stuff up the first build so he purchased enough for two sets of materials, however when the first turned out perfectly that he decided to make the second and auction it off on eBay which was caught in a bidding war and eventually sold for $4000 USD.

It's quite heavy and rather large...more than twice the size of the official licensed one.
Upon receiving this bundle of awesomeness, I soon realized that the brass color rubs off after about a week or so as it is only applied on with a blowtorch and a wire brush.
I did a lot of upkeep on it trying to keep the brass looking nice and new however I eventually put it in for gold plating which set me back almost $300 AUD and took about 6 weeks.

I'm quite pleased with the result.

Please find below the build video from Michaelcthulhu's channel along with a short clip from my channel showing off the quality of it

Yeah I was the guy - funny thing though...he says in the video I pestered him but I think he was joking about...it was legit just one request then a reply - from there we just discussed updates, prices and timelines XD
He's a really nice guy though

Nice. Yes, brass tarnishes quite easily, and the gold plating looks good. Hot vinegar bathes are great for handling brass tarnishing, and water/baking soda scrubbing with a toothbrush should be fine for removing gold tarnish. That said, I honestly think the piece would have looked very handsome with a matured patina on the brass, which can be done artificially. Although the prices may seem mind-boggling at first glance, the prices for the piece and gold-plating are quite reasonable for a custom, high-quality piece of work.

Yeah it's cool. Personally, I would never spend that much money on something that has no use, though.

Totally jealous though. Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, and HxH > Everything else

Nah she's not bent...the gold reflection does add funny illusions though.
