"Transgender people should never be allowed to use the same restroom as cisgender people!"

"Transgender people want their own bathrooms? What, are you crazy?"

The things people will do to justify their prejudices iwould be hilarious if it weren't kinda sad.

$5k too add bathroom in a college? lol.

First you have to find a space for it.
Then you have to cut the concreate floor open for the sewer line to join an existing toilet.
Then you have to build the walls and a door.
Then you have to run the plumbing for a toilet and a sink.
The fixtures that you use also have to be handicap accessible.
Then you need to run the electricity for a light, fan, switch, GFI receptacle and emergency light .
You need a fire strobe and horn tied into the fire alarm system.
Then paint, tile, drop ceiling (most likely).
Railing for the handicap toilet.
Plus the cost of the plumbing fixtures, lights, fans
Costs of building, plumbing, electrical, fire permits.
Universities use union labor, so figure at least $60/hr for plumber, electrician, carpenter and alarm guys.

I'd say you are looking at roughly $15-20k for adding a small single occupancy bathroom. That's being cheap with the materials.

Oh good. So it only costs half of one student's tuition.

I mean what are we going to do guys? WHAT IF IT COSTS ONE STUDENT'S TUITION!??

That's too much. We need it for the $6.5 Million bell tower.

If it's a student with a full course load it will probably be even more than $20K. And that's before you add the costs of books, materials, campus services, locker rentals etc. etc.

Let me ask you this. Why can't transgenders, who don't make up even 1%, use the restroom according to their genitalia? Give me one good reason. Give me one, very important, non-petty reason why they can't.

It's too bad the world won't stop for the unhappy .1% of the population.
Where are all of Canada's transgender bathrooms. Why don't you guys show us how it's done.

Ok.

In Canada we generally let trans people use the correct bathroom.

You're welcome.

Just because they're less than 1 percent of the population doesn't mean they shouldn't have rights.

Bathrooms in public or private spaces aren't a right regardless of gender or mental illness

It's better just to let them use whatever bathroom they want.

Because it perpetuates the negative stigma associated with them, and does not line up with their actual gender of course.

My turn: why can't you let a transgender person use the restroom that corresponds with their gender? Give me one good reason. Give me one, very important, non-petty reason why they can't.

What about people who identify as cats? Do they get their own litter box?

Being a different gender and a different species are two completely different things.

But that being said, I don't really see gender segregated bathrooms being a thing in the future.

Because it doesn't correspond to their gender. They either are mentally ill or attention whores, likely both.

I can get behind this. I'm uncomfortable with anybody being in the same bathroom as me when I go to piss. I prefer those singular restrooms, and there's really very little point in sepearating those if only 1 person is gonne be in it at a time.

Why discriminate against cat people? Do they have less rights than a transgender? If so, who decided?

That's not a very important, non-petty reason to be completely frank w/ you. In fact, that's the pettiest explanation I've heard.

That corresponds w/ their gender? We already do...? We have men and women restrooms corresponding to our gender and have had them for a very long time my friend. Just because they're playing dress up does not make them a woman or vice versa
