Wonder when people will realize the battle isn't right and left its authoritarian vs true liberal values... most democrats and most republicans are closer to each other than the sjw brigade and true left/Classic Liberal are to each other.

Not completely unexpected. Pettiness masked as nobility. Fitting since it's a stage filled with actors. It wasn't a publicity stunt since they have all their shows throughout next year already sold out. Only place he'd get cheering crowds is a church, a room filled with veterans/military/police and a conference for physicians.

Not as famous as actors/actresses, athletes or musicians but that's exactly why they won the election.

A large portion of America is currently in a state of fear. Some of the people who are going into power have a track record of racial, sexist, orientation and/or class discrimination. The Hamilton cast cover all those demographics and these groups feel they are forgotten by the system. Sadly these days letter appeals are ignored and physical protests are dispersed so the people aren't heard.

They had one shot to let the worries that plague them everyday since the election be actually heard by someone in a position to do something about it. They respectfully asked him to hear the concerns of the people he is going to represent from a group who feels scared and unwelcome in their own country in this current climate. They were not throwing away their shot!

Regardless of what you think of him, Pence should be able to attend a play without being booed (happened to him while he was there) and without a political agenda...just as he should be able to grab a bite to eat with friends and family without being harassed. I agree with Trump on this issue. I'm sure that, had Obama attended a play and something similar happened, he would be appalled.

if it had happened to Obama people would be crying racism

Obama would shush the people booing him just so he could hear the actor speak his mind.

He wouldn't slink away then have Biden go on a twitter bender like a 12 year old girl.

I swear to god I don't know how Obama has spent 8 years putting up with having to be the Adult In The Room(tm) all the time.

Actually the producer of Hamilton thanked the vice president eleçt for leaving the theater proper so not to cause a scene and then standing in the hall to hear the lead actor's rant out. Honestly pence's behavior was far classier than moast of those commenting here.
Considering how the theater has fallen on hard times trying to remain relevant in the 21st century this sort of nastyness is not the way to encourage people to attend. So, oh well. As Dr. Phil would say, "let's see how that works for you".

Furthermore he has been confronted by disatisfied citizens on multiple occasions, many of which were far more hecklish and not nearly as polite as the response Pence got (from the actors, not so much from the crowd) and I sure as hell don't remember anyone calling them racist or even being very upset about it.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Sunday he "wasn't offended" after the cast of the Broadway hit "Hamilton" called for the Indiana governor to uphold the country's values in a personal message after a show.
...
Trump called for the cast of Hamilton to apologize.
Pence said he'll leave it up to others to determine whether that was the "appropriate venue for that," and then offered praise for the show.
"Hamilton is just an incredible production and incredibly talented people. It was a real joy to be there," Pence said.

Hamilton staff insults Pence, and the guy not only does not mind, but actually gave praise to the musical, saying to his children that receiving support as well as strong criticism is a sign of a healthy nation: that's what freedom sounds like".

> "of course he doesn't mind, no VP should mind a little criticism"
considering how everyone and their grandma painted Pence as the greatest evil of all time...

There's a time and place politics. Even though I may agree with their views I think they should've left their mouths shut..

I think that's what might have hurt Clinton with of all the celebrities endorsing her. People got sick of it and it backfired.

I suppose heckling the PotUS during a State of the Union is acceptable to you.

How exactly did they "insult" Pence? Did you even see the video of what was said? The guy was as polite as you can get.

"We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. We hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us."

translation: We as Americans are anxious that you, an outsider will work as VP.
meaning: you're not a f'ing American, but please try and act like one.

also:

"Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us at 'Hamilton: An American Musical,' " actor Brandon Victor Dixon said onstage.

note how he had to explain to Pence that it was an American musical - as if Pence was an outsider, a foreigner new to America.

Dumb on every level. I hope Pence enjoyed the show, and I hope Trump fucking stops with Twitter by the time he is sworn in.

Spoilers: He won't. Conservative safe space central will stay operating the entire (maybe) 4 years.
