He may an ego, but he's a businessman first. If his name being removed from the hotel would net him more money, he would be all for it.

For an alternative answer: "...look, it's all a bit technical, but the important thing is that his company's future is secure."

Donald Trump's name is being stripped off three New York City luxury apartment buildings after hundreds of tenants signed a petition saying they were embarrassed to live in a place associated with the Republican president-elect.


He wants his tenants to be happy. What's wrong with making a business decision that keeps your tenants happy?

Those buildings are owned by a private equity group that includes Trump, but I believe the majority partners are a group of billionaires from China. More than likely Trump had little to do with them aside from providing a little capital, his name, and using his influence in New York as leverage for acquiring the properties.
