ODGS - Overly Defensive Gameplay Syndrome

OAGS - Overly Aggressive Gameplay Syndrome

Rusher - Mass cheap weak units and go for a quick, usually 5-10minute win

Resource War - Set up a Strong Defence with reserve unit(s) and mass resource to go for a all out attack with tons of resources

Terror - Not really a GAME based tatic but scare the enemy into panicing by attacking usually on multiple fronts

Prober - Send out small "Search and Destroy" parties of units consisting of usually 1-3 strong units with 5-10 weaker units and never massing 1 HUGE army

Joseph Stalin - Sit back and defend while massing a shitload of units that are all strong and of the same kind (ex: starcraft - Protoss and zealot rushing) that have usually unfair attack but below average defence. Usually travels in a giant pack that is fairly dense due to all units having the same speed

Armageddon - Sit back at base and buff up all defenses and make a truckload of reserve units and just lob nukes at the enemy to win

Adolf Hitler - Tank/Armored whore ... Period

Support Player - Do all the resource gathering / defence and allow your allies to do all of the attacking

Blitzkrieg - All out rush with ALL units (even the weaker construction units are thrown into the frey)

My tatics depend on the game, game settings, team, map and everything...
if i was playing Company of Heroes and was Axis on a small map, i would instantly go into ODGS and set up a Resource War because the Axis have access to the Tiger ^^

Edit: Sigh... what happen to the good ol days of RTS?

Well, usually I play like that.

The op is funny to me, being a Starcraft player. How you look at things rather differently, and so on. You can get an idea of what i mean by looking here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=35852
I guess you could say i am a strong midgame timing attack.

coh i hear was decent, never played though

meh perhaps starcraft2 in 08 will revive the genre.

i hope starcraft2 doesn't become a disappointment.
warcraft3 sucked(shut up, it's my opinion) so i'm worried about starcraft

but anyway..
i guess for me, it depends on the size of the map and if i know what my enemies are.

example: i won't use the contain/starvation tactic my enemy and i are in a huge map or if i can't afford to contain, or use a zerg rush early in the game if i know the opponent is a protoss lol

i guess my main style is container--i seriously don't like to see my enemies expand their borders

but to obtain that strategy i have to be a cold, heartless, Overly Aggressive Gamer

eh, who am i kidding, fuck strategy--full attack!
lol yeah, i tend to switch/adjust my tactics until i'm satisfied(i'm not satisfied until i know i'm winning) or beaten

I like your style XD

If I don't have much time I go Rush

I mainly use the Resource/Prober tactic. I used to be a fan of ODGS and Armageddon when I was new to RTS games.

I don't play warcraft for pickup games but rather play DotA and Battleships.

As for Starcraft, I got fond of fastest maps but I do wish to work on Big Game Hunter type games and I do play a fair amount of map settings.

On large maps I do a lot of exploring and expansion and get as much of the resources as I can get and buff my army. smaller maps make me go rush. mid sized maps make me go on my usual tactic stated above.

on Large maps i go for
Adolf Hitler + Blitzkrieg while setting up a Joseph Stalin and trying to get a Resource war up (aka in CoH i would mass Panzer IV and StuGIII and rush them and watch them get raped then repeat till the enemy just runs outa $$$)
