The big $99 New 3DS they were pushing out for Black Friday, apparently were in ultra low stock AND released EARLY before Black Friday (the advertised purchase window). They were all sold out online in all stores within minutes and is now being resold for 160-300$ by scalpers. What was a dream deal for the 3DS is now just another cash grab because Nintendo would rather sell out early to scalpers, than sell to everyone. "Available on Black Friday" my ass.

Thanks, Nintendo.

Have you ever considered that Nintendo doesn't care?

They still sold the units.

This is pretty much a normal problem for Nintendo, they make something in very high demand only to have it run out way too fast.

it was a mistake

but it's not a crime for people to pour in and buy things when they were on sale or sell back if they want

when i'm late to a sale i don't slash out at the people before me.. since what's the point?

nintendo will restock so keep an eye out for it .. at least nintendo is restocking their product.. while there's no vita to be found this holiday season (except from third party merchants/marketplace seller)..

No, it wasn't a mistake.

Nintendo consistently (and thus, we can safely assume deliberately) under-manufactures their products to create artificial scarcity. Basically their market strategy is to try to drum up hype by having their products be difficult to acquire, especially around release. They want those, "____ from Nintendo is sold out everywhere," headlines.

Here are a few articles on the subject: Engadget, Jimquisition, Forbes.

Scarcity encourages scalping, so the fact that the majority of Nintendo's anemic supply is immediately snatched up by scalpers who resell them for five, ten times their retail price is Nintendo's fault. They just don't care.

if you want the products badly enough then be willing to wait in line like then.. when bestbuy announced that they will restock the NES there were people already lining up outside 1 day before...

personally i would not bother.. getting it now or later doesn't make any different to me

NES classic are still around $200.. still sold out at bestbuy..

just wait until they restock.

maybe the Nintendo Wii didn't do so well so nintendo wanted the spotlight back on them again who knows..

personally.. i don't have a problem with scalpers.. since they are customers who are willing o dedicate their time to get a product-- something that i wouldn't bother doing.. but i'll not bother buying their cut throat price products either..

if you want something badly. i guess you have to show your dedication and get in line like them?.. either that or just give it a few months for them to restock..

Neither do I. As I said, they're a symptom, not the disease.

The party at fault is Nintendo.
