One on one training in martial arts, free of charge, that was sparked from a random encounter.

To be fair, the man admitted he only wanted to teach me so he could use me as practice, and he probably wouldn't have done it for free if his class had seen any interest. We live out in the country, and not many people were interested.

Cool stuff, though.... even though I'm terrible. Tai Chi is hard, M'kay.

hehehe....need very padded walls, and maybe even a padded ceiling, if you're doing to seriously learn push hands!

Let's see if I can link some anime clichés with real life events.

1. Mother died when I was 12, was placed into foster care - Where I eventually fell in love with the girl that was there with me. It was one of those teenage puppy love scenarios, but it played out a lot like tsundere romance.

2. Various martial arts - To vent out my anger from #1, I enrolled myself into a lot of martial arts classes as a teenager. I studied kendo as part of the kendo club while I was in Japan. I also took a jujutsu course while staying there. In America, I've taken Jeet Kune Do, Ninjutsu, Bujinkan, and Karate.

3. Spent a lot of time in cafes while in Japan - For a month and a half, I was a troublemaker who wouldn't go to school. Instead, I'd hit up a cafe to sit and people-watch. Eventually, I got told off and told it was disrespectful - so I tried to be more considerate of my exchange family's wishes.

Other than some relationships and moving around a lot (to "escape my past"), I think those are the only things I can say are hardcore anime clichés that I've experienced in my life.

<--- I'm exactly like this character except that my prince hasn't arrived so I can't see my full potential and always fuck up because my nerves and anxiety get the best of me

(for those who don't know, that's Yuri from Yuri on Ice)

Went to a maid cafe', but it wasn't anything like it was in anime. It was actually uncomfortable and creepy.

I could just feel the awkwardness

Imagine a 6/10 girl singing J-Pop in some high pitch annoying voice. Then handing you a business card.

We went to a bar later to wash away the shame in alcohol.

Damn it! Reading this thread made me remember myself back in high school. If I liked a girl, she didn't like me back. When a girl liked me, it went completely over my head.

Real life isn't like anime. Anime takes the roughest elements from real life and makes them funny or entertaining. That's part of the appeal. But damn all if it didn't bring up stupid failings I'd long since gotten over...

Since I'm not a gun or some form of explosive you don't have to worry about triggering me. If I react, you don't have to fear physical harm. I assure you, the words I post to this forum will never treat you like a "triggered" person will.

Got asked,"Will you give me a baby?" Ok, it's not "Will you have my baby?" but it's close enough.

Aside from the cliche of having a bunch of girls fighting for my attention, nothing that I can recall.

I was oblivious to the only girl in school who ever liked me.
when she got around to being more straight forward, I turned her down, but that's pretty anime too.
