I got a message from someone angry who called me a deadbeat and told me to pay child support or they would get the police involved

Whoever had my previous phone number probably fled to Mexico or something to avoid paying child support, not that I blame em. I wouldn't be very motivated to work if most of it went to someone who refuses to get a job.

But anyways, my personal opinions are spilling over into the thread.

I'm not positive this is the oddest, but it's up there. On one first date the fella opened his wallet to show me pictures -- they were news and magazine clippings of women's legs. Some of the images included the whole body, but many did not--they'd been clipped to show just the apparently important part.

(Now you have some inkling of just how old I am; these days I'm sure he carries them around on his phone.)

When I resided in NW Arkansas I went to a pre-arranged place in Fayetteville for a coffee. I was able to find a place to park directly across the street from this bistro. As I was getting out of my mid-life crisis sports car she said loud enough for me to hear "Not my type." "You're not my type." It went downhill from there. Brief visit, very brief.

This lady liked farmers, ranchers; not computer professionals.

on okcupid I got this guy who came to me for advice and asked how he should tell someone about his fetish and if its weird

buddy I don't think a stranger on a dating site is the right person to ask about that
it was the urinating on your partner one

Actually, a stranger on a dating site is a good person to ask, because there's lower social risk.

Also, might have just been doing it insincerely to get a reaction. of the "hurhurhur" sort or honestly getting a thrill from sharing TMI and possibly making someone uncomfortable, or sincerely to see your reaction because that might have been important to whether or not he'd be interested in dating you.

Keeping in mind, this is when we were both adults, and most of our friends were married and/or had kids - my date and I went to Burger King, and asked for crowns. Staff was a bit weirded out at first, but we had fun.

We dated for several years after that, and are still friends, but it didn't work out romantically.

---

Messages are a whole other beast, though. The oddest ones I can think of that aren't obscene were usually requests for me to father a child... yeah, no.

I was working a local SF/Fantasy Comic and Collectibles Con and met a cute female security guard who took a liking to me. She asked me out so of course I said yes. Well when I went to pick her up for the date she told me she wanted to show me something ... it turned out to be her gun collection. She informed me that since we were now dating exclusively if I ever cheated on her she'd show me exactly how her gun collection was made to be used. The exclusivity was news to me...as was the apparent thinly veiled death threat.

In most places in the United States the other parent who doesn't have custody of the child or children, whether they be the mom or dad, is required to pay child support to the parent who has custody of the child or children whether that parent is working or not. The money is meant to support the costs of raising a child, such as for food, clothes, shelter and whatever other necessary costs may come up, not for supporting the parent taking care of the child or children. So yes, if the parent who has custody of the child or children is working, the other parent still has to pay child support. It has nothing to do with whether that parent has a job or not.

I'm on a couple of different dating sites and I've had guys message me asking me weird questions like that too. The weirdest has been when a guy has asked me if some women might like their small you-know-what below the waist. And yes, I've been asked that more than once. I usually just say I don't know, not my thing, and block them.

Not really weird, just really goddamn infuriating.

A girl asked me out and we went to eat ramen. When I went to go get her, I waited forever for her to come out, and at the ramen place she made no move to pay for her share even though it was her idea. Major red flags. She was also pretty loud compared to others in the restaurant and never said please or thank you to the waiter. She didn't even chip in for tip. I was annoyed but just paid since I didn't want to make a scene and it wasn't really that much.

Later, we had to swing by her place to get something and she didn't even close the car door and I waited like 10 minutes. We went to play table tennis after that and she was taking selfies and shit for like 2 minutes for every 5 minutes of table tennis being played. Also constantly asked me to switch sides and I noticed she never picked up stray balls from other tables or helped other players return balls. More red flags.

At that point, I was super annoyed. Never talked to her again after I took her back home.
