my grandpa joked with me that macy's is now owned by trump

which was fine with me

but then my grandma started getting deeper into it and getting argumentative and my mom started yelling for her to stop lol

and I just sat there and said
"id rather argue over the dinner table than have my family rioting :^)"

I spent the day feeding homeless vets at the VFW hall and it was agreed that there would be no talk of politics those guys are going through enough to have to watching the staff fight over such nonsense

Luckily for me, any and all discussion of politics was civil and polite, which I was quite relieved about. See, we go over my aunt's house for Thanksgiving, on my mom's side of the family, and being one of 9 siblings, we have a very large number of relatives that show up. A lot of them are pretty heavily on the left, some more vocally than others. My dad, on the other hand, is a big time conservative, and was a very vocal Trump supporter (I'm very conservative as well and an voted fro Trump, but I'm not nearly as vocal about it), and he absolutely loves to argue. I was a bit worried some bad feelings might get dragged out and there may be an incident, but thankfully (see what I did there?), it didn't end up becoming an issue. I think everyone realized that this time of year, and Thanksgiving specifically, is for getting together and enjoying each other's company, so it doesn't do any good to bring up something divisive for the sake of being divisive. So fingers crossed that Christmas Eve will be similarly enjoyable.

I purposely stayed away from my parents this Thanksgiving. It was nice.

I'm fine with my parents' choice for candidates. I don't care.

The clan that voted Hillary ate at our house, It was 50-50 split re representation via body count. Those of us who voted The Donald didn't bring it up and the Hillary-philes stayed mum. What broke the ice was everyone liked Bernie. So we talked Bernie, said damn little about anyone else political the rest of the evening.

None of my family cared or bothered to bring it up. We ate our meals, had a good time and watched the little ones run around.
