Been forever since i've seen it, but didn't the ending heavily imply that he wasn't dead?

Well, this is very interesting new indeed. More Code Geass is always welcome, especially if it involves the return of Lelouch as a protagonist. Still, some extra information would useful, if only to getting a clear idea of what exactly this new anime entails.

The ending always heavily implied that Lelouche was dead, and even though it was plausible that it was simply one of his schemes (such as mind-controlling somebody to take the fall for him, or being revived somehow shortly afterwards), him dying was what really gave weight to the ending.

Him dying was the end of his character arc, where he finally was able to leave the world at peace by directing all hatred at him. By trying to save his own life, there would be the risk of him being found out - and he wouldn't be able to redeem himself for the atrocities he committed.

Still, with that all being said, this is interesting if accurate. I really liked the first season of the show, and while the second season seemed to be all over the place in terms of pacing and pointless minor character additions - it concluded brilliantly enough to make me overlook it all.

Skeptical about it being any good, but I'll probably watch it anyway. Just about how my attitude was with Dragonball Super, really.

Edit:

The only way I can see this not making the ending garbage is if he somehow is brought back to life against his will. If he somehow obtained immortality, that would also explain how he managed to survive. Actually, that seems the most plausible explanation for things in hindsight.

Honestly, the powers he had were poorly explained.

Not exactly if you read into the reasons people think he is still alive or would come back alot of good reasons were made.

Theories that Charles may have given Lelouch the code are possible.

" If he somehow obtained immortality, that would also explain how he managed to survive."

A heavy fan based theory for years is that he actually was given Charles immortality code
