How do you deal with constant chains of bad luck/events? How long has your longest chain of bad luck/events been?

I've been having a long period of bad luck/events ever since last year around the start of November. Lots of things that happened were just really preventable but I didn't prevent it and it led to just a bunch of sorrow. One of these things that was preventable for example was information about myself that I normally keep to myself. While I don't really reveal much about my personality this year due to some problems with people I reached a breaking point where I had abruptly mentioned to some people some information about myself that I never intended to reveal. Which lead to some bad things but also good things at the same time. While it continues to be quite dismal, good moments have occurred but very uncommonly. However, I'm wondering is there any way to break free from just chains of bad luck? To break free from just having consistent bad things occur? Or is it really just all random and I'm just getting severely unlucky for a year? I want to hear what people's thoughts on this and your experiences if you had any.

TL;DR
2016 was a bad year for me.

Focus on your blessings. You have Crunchyroll to watch - so you probably have a computer and Internet and an income sufficent to pay for both. Hopefully you have your health, and it sounds like you have friends who support you and care about you. Make it a point every single day to stop for a minute and count your blessings and be appreciative of them. And the cool thing is - they will start to grow and increase. At the very least, you will feel more happy and grateful and aware of how lucky you really are to be alive, well, eating food, able to move around.

I've had one of the worst years of my life this year. But I'm alive and I'm healthy and most of the time I can afford food to eat, and my computer and Internet and Crunchyroll and so many more blessings.

Blessedbe and feel free to PM if you want someone to talk to.

And if it helps - my numerology says 2016 was a "9" year where things end and things you don't need are cut away, but 2017 is a "1" and will be full of new beginnings.

What constitutes bad luck if every day is either pretty terrible or unspeakable in its lack of noteworthy events?

You control what you can, roll with what you can't, and look for new things/adapt.

Easier said than done though.

Alcohol.

Yeah sometimes just thinking positive like being thankful or sometimes music or anime or hanging with good friends or family but there are times where it cab be hard to deal with.
But we all go through it. And some go through it worse than you, even though at times it feels that you're the one with all the bad luck.

Songs like this!;

Break the chain and continue strutting along. Luck doesn't exist. It is your life choices that really matter.

Well said. I have extremely bad luck. In fact my luck is so bad that it literally flips and sort of becomes good luck. For instance I'll trip over a curb and bust my butt right as a car has a flat tire and swerves right into the spot I would have been at had it not been for me busting my butt on a curb. Weird things like that happen as a result of my bad luck. I've come to embrace it. I've also come to realize that there really isn't that much bad or good luck and that we as humans are able to make our own luck at times. Sometimes things are just simply out of our control but most of the time we can control these events. Now we can't really control what anyone else does or the world but we have control over what's truly important: ourselves and that allows us to help shape our world in a much better light. I remember breaking my little toe a while back. I caught it on the foot of the couch and bent it all the way back so that it was turned the wrong way. I ended up pushing it back to how it should go and God that hurt. I didn't bother going to a doctor because there's nothing they can really do and no bones were poking out. I'm hardcore like that. Okay honestly I cried to my mommy like a baby but my pinkie toe freaking hurt so give me a break! I couldn't walk at all that first day and called in to work. That day at work there was an accident and a couple of my co-workers got hurt. Not seriously but bad enough to where they couldn't work for about a week or so. I have no way of knowing if I would have been hurt also if I had been on the job but I like to think that my bad lucked tipped the scales in my favor once again. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

Whenever something bad happens to me it happens in pairs. No word of a lie.

So when I know it's over, I pick myself up and push on through to tomorrow.

you can use your bad luck as a gambling advantage for example, ask your friend to go to a casino with you and play Roulette, and have your friend bet against you. You bet $5 on black while your friend bet $20 on red. and if your luck is really that bad, your friend would be winning every hand and let say you both play 10 hands, the result is gonna be something like, you will lose $50, while your friend wins $200 then y'all can split up the profits and that would make y'all both are winners

Except that you'll have the bad luck that your friend won't share the winnings and will leave you high, dry, and broke...

The best thing I can think of is , prevent the preventables.

Roll with the unpreventables. That is, when an unpreventable happens, counter it with something positive to try to balance it out.

Easier said than done, but it's better than doing nothing.

But I'm like most. I think we all have our periods of ups and downs, and we just have to figure out how to shorten the downs and lengthen the ups.
