Didn't know we were seen as the censorship kings, oh well, at least the game was unbanned, we did get a censored version I believe. Also didn't even know the Stick of Truth game got banned, in fact, I probably would of heard about it from my friend who is obsessed with south park. Besides our strict laws centred around censorship I still wager that we have a lot of dark humour going on at least between mates of all ages.

I think it is apt title that is fairly well known in the US. Granted, there are a lot of Countries like China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, that ban stuff, but what is shocking about Austrailia is that they have a rather democratic style of Government to go along with it, a parliamentary democracy where people are required to vote, but knowingly limits people's choice, despite the official motto being "Adults can play what they want to play".

There's also some messiness with porn laws that well....while I do engage in legal avenues of self gratification, those same avenues would likely be illegal on a subjective basis.

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/vic/consol_act/ca195882/s67a.html

"child pornography" means a film, photograph, publication or computer game that describes or depicts a person who is, or appears to be, a minor engaging in sexual activity or depicted in an indecent sexual manner or context"

Think of all the PV related events you Aussies are missing!

Just because we're a democracy doesn't mean there is less censorship or no censorship. A democracy just entails that the power is with the people. Whatever the majority of people (Or the representatives that are elected by those people) want whenever is be censorship or no censorship is law (As long as it abides by the Constitution).

True, but the common thing of democracies (Or democratic republics, etc) is the ability to discern rights, and more importantly the implications of such overreaching measures. If there is anything to give Antonin Scalia credit for, it is that he kept the slippery slope in mind when making decisions regarding a number of cases. What you're saying is true, but I am pointing out the reason why Australia is the sore thumb among western powers, that comparatively do far less censorship, and less so, outright bans. Because most democracies or republic do not engage in a dictatorship by the majority.

I think you believe Australia sticks out like a sore thumb in the international community because the particular things that are censored relate to your hobbies, I really don't think there is any notable freedom issues going on in my country, the censorship from my knowledge isn't focused on course language but rather gore thus not being at odds with my original claim that Australians like their dark humour. I'm also still failing to see why this relates to Australia being stereotyped as racist.

I don't think it had much to do with jokes or puns.
It's stuff like the Cronulla riots and openly attacking people of different races on public transport.
Only recently in the past few weeks there were two girls from Asia talking in there native language getting screamed at by a woman on a bus "we speak English here go back to where you came from if you don't speak English" It's stuff like that goes around the world due to youtube etc and gets everyone labeled.

All countries have some form of a negative label attached to them.

It has alot to do with jokes and puns. Alot of people do not understand our sense of humour and laid backness. Many are offended by how we talk and take the piss out of things.
You need to educate yourself on the Cronulla riots. Do you realise that they did that in retaliation? Did you realise that it was in retaliation for problems and violence cause by the middle eastern gangs over there? and for an Aussie life gaurd getting bashed by them?
Iam proud of that shit, it makes me so happy to see a rare case where white people stuck up for themselves and fought back, stuck together.
However, they did go about it wrong. They made the big error of just attacking anyone who looked Muslim/Arab and attacked innocent people. Including non Arabs and non Muslims.
And i bet that you did not know that the Muslims retalitaed to the retaliation and it was worse than what the Aussies did.
But it's typical media, whites do something to non whites and its racisim and world wide news, they do it to us whites and you dont hear a peep. Quiet like a church mouse on the news.

Yes, you're very correct about isolated incidents going viral on the net and it makes world wide news so we all get judged.

Hmm, not familiar with this as an American. Any idea what parts of the world this stereotype persists?

Mostly in Asia. Especially India but yes to Asians and also to some Europeans. I've noticed some Africans feel this way and Muslims/Arabs.

Destroying indigenous peoples.

The English did that though.

As mentioned above, its due to our laid backness and humour. Also the media and political correctness.
For some reason when we want to celibrate Australia day and all go out drapped in Aussie colours and flags, its seen as racist? fuck knows why?
But yes, the media plays a big part. Another example was an Indian taxi driver got bashed and now all of India thinks we're racist.
And the fact that we dont want to end up like Europe with the Muslims apparently makes us racist.
Any form or patriotism seems to be deemed as racist. It's the same old story, if you're white you're racist.
There are alot of problems between whites and Aboriginies.

I do find it funny though that we're considered racist when you come here you will see just how multi cultural we are. It is extremely multi cultural here.
There is no KKK here, there really is no white power groups or skin head groups.(not serious or big ones)
Back in the day when we suddenly became Australasia, there were skin heads against Asians but this is like 20-30 years ago.
There is a group called "reclaim Australia" most are not racist. They're just looking out for Australia and Australians. But of course they get the racist tag due to a few dick heads that make them all look bad and due to the politcal correctness, the lefties and SJW's, the anti whites and etc.
There is Pauline Hanson, a politician that wants less immigration in Australia. So again, deemed a fool and a racist. Shown no respect.

With the Aborigines, they get more government aid than anyone else, very low intrest loans, housing, rarely work, we have said sorry, we have an indigenous round in the football where every team wears uniforms designed by Aboriginies with Aboriginal art, etc.
It's never enough, never will be.
I've seen more Africans with jobs and there were no Africans here 10 years ago.

They're just trying to do to Australians what they've already done to America. Use language to control behavior and how people act towards others.

it just makes me laugh how white people are pretty peaceful, we dont go out and bash non whites, if anything we are scared. But i guess being scared is racist too?
But yep, freedom of speech is in danger. Free will is in danger. Being proud if you're white is in danger or racist.

Funny thing is, i get along fine with Indians and all kinds of Asians and Africans and Europeans and mexicans and etc at work yet iam sure iam considered racist lol
I love Japan and Asian food and girls i love black music but iam racist lol. Fucking racist Aussie cunts.

EDIT: iam waiting for them to ban Vegemite becasue it is black.

2ND EDIT: oh , there was another incident with a football player here. Just happened to be black (Aboriginal). he acted like a flog, made some very offensive comments about Australia, was getting booed at football games when he got the ball (happens to many white players all the time and the umpires and etc) and apparently it was racist. lol...

If they went after the exact people who did it fine. Dude 1 dude 2 and dude 3 etc.
Going after

anyone who looked Muslim/Arab and attacked innocent people. Including non Arabs and non Muslims.
that was the problem. Punish people who had nothing to do with it was extremely stupid and what it will always be remembered for.

Going after the people responsible would have seen only family and friends. Attempt any revenge by going after random people you end up will everyone.

Well no I didn't know about any retaliation (though in the 11 years I may have forgotten though.) but if you bash people who did nothing wrong what do you expect though?
They are only doing what you did originally. Someone going "Yeah we deserved it sorry it wont happen again..." Unlikely as alien space crafts being controlled by turtles.

That's how things end up being massive problems. "I need revenge oh you will do" does nothing except make things more worse then you wanted.
Several conflict zones on the planet are just continuous revenge attacks. You killed X so I'll get someone on your side now thats been going on for decades.

Pauline Hanson is a massive hypocrite though. She hated Australia so much she wanted to immigrate (as long as she is the one immigrating it's fine..) to live the rest of her life in the UK. Only to go there are too many whatever it was she hated I guess Asians?. So returned back to Australia.
Originally she hated anyone from Asia then it changed into anyone from the middle east. Provided you are from a white based country she is happy as with you coming here.

Just to point out something

freedom of speech is in danger
freedom of speech has never existed in Australia and never has. It wasn't ever written into the constitution of Australia as well as stuff like Australia having people living there pre first fleets...I guess they where in a hurry or something... So it isn't in danger because it never existed in the first place.

The Australians I know are just offensive in general. Everyone is either a "fucking cunt" or "wanker" to them. There is never any malice behind it... They're like New Yorkers...

Honestly I haven't payed much attention to this. Pretty much every country has their share or racists. As an American I don't think Australia is any more racist than the next country.....actually let me rephrase that. I don't think Australia is racist. That's way too much generalizing. I'm sure Australia has it's share of racists though just like everywhere else. All of the Aussie's I've ever met are really nice people. I personally haven't met an Australian who I felt was racist.

Huh, Australia? Can't say I've heard of this. One thing that does piss me of about Austrailia is the censorship. I am pretty sure someone of my tastes would get arrested for child porn on the mere thing that my pornstars LOOK under 18. Fuck that shit. Oh, and spiders. Austrailian outback is not to be messed with.

Nathan denies it but I have seen videos of spiders walking in the streets like they belong there.

shivers

Every country is racist in their own right, just depends on the people who hear the jokes.

Yeah but they all look the same! lol i couldn't resist.
Yeah it's a bit like black lives matter attcking any white person, that'll do (not saying all of them just some).
The retailation was a show of power. Basically "you want to fuck with us well we'll fuck you up way worse" they terrorised streets and damaged homes.

No you're wrong again. Australia used to be pretty much Aborigines and whites and Europeans. Particulary Italians and Greeks.
Things changed VERY quickly. All of a sudden Asians were seemingly everywhere. So there was a feeling of "there are too many"
Back then there were pretty much fuck all Arabs/Muslims and Africans.
The reason she has shifted to saying too many Muslims is becasue now it's them that are appearing in mass numbers very quickly. And we see what has happened in the UK, France and more recently in Germany and Sweden. Not to mention Islams impact in Africa and parts of Asia.

And you see Greeks and Vietnamese and Chinese and etc really contibruted alot to biuilding Australia, assimulated and work hard, we feel safe around them, they dress normally, are not strictly religious, eat pork, drink alcohol, celibrtae xmas, etc
You never see them being lazy cunts and being on the dole/govermant aid, they work and fit in.
We dont feel the same about Muslims as much. And we would be stupid as to not learn from example from other parts of the world, yet that is considered bigoted and Islamaphobic and racist.
You see Asians used to have the reputation of not speaking English, not mixing, carrying knives, gangs, selling drugs, etc but not being religious fanatics or terrorists or being so different really.

We just want Australia to stay safe. We have issues here with housing, water, jobs, homeless people, etc and its so safe here, we want it to stay that way.
I voted for pauline despite having alot of Asian friends. i dont hide it from them either.

You have to understand how quickly Australia has changed. My mum had never seen an Asian person in person before until she was an adult and working and was surprised to see one. Now it's like we are part of Asia.
So of course peopel need to adjust to change and can feel threatend.
If you were to see a game of cricket here where it is Australia vs India, you would swear tha the game was in India/that India were the home side.

Yes exactly. We talk to each other like that. So when we say it to a non white we're not being racist. You wanker cunt.

Handwaving a bunch of incidents based on racial stereotypes and racial targeting doesn't exactly undermine a perception of racism.
