An unconfirmable story from a third-rate source. I don't think this is viable at all.

Wouldn't it just be easier to build a wall and a train separately?

These days I throw the NY Times and WaPo in the "fake news" basket, especially WaPo. Full of opinion pieces they attempt to pass as fact, quite sad.

from Los Angles Times.?

Brooklyn daily.?

There are a lot more if you like I can post some of them as well.

Well if your building a wall then that wall could serve as a great foundation for an Atlantic -> Pacific high speed train or an expanded capacity cargo transport route, maybe both.

It's an editorial, not a news piece.

That said, I don't see the point in building a railway across the border other than to joke on who's on the wrong side of the tracks. What major US industries or metropolitan areas are close enough to the border to benefit from it?

Glancing through the articles linked by the OP, neither are the articles advocating a railway across the wall (please correct me if i missed that). They're all more focused on infrastructure works possible should Trump really focus on it.

he already reeled back on his original 'promise' and has revised the 'wall' to a 'fence'. there's already a damn fence, maybe just update the thing?
