I've been looking for a good anime recently. I've seen hundreds and seem to find it increasingly difficult to locate new anime. However I'd rather not watch the dozen by the dollar type. I'd prefer the lesser known and more abscure anime. I much enjoy anime such as Future Diaries, Steins;Gate, Mekaku city actors, guilty Crown, Katanagatari, Gun Frontier, and almost everything aniplex. Please leave suggestions below and I'll comment if I've seen it or not. I would also love to talk about the anime if you loved it as well

Not sure if it really counts as obscure, but since you saw Steins;Gate (one of my favorites as well), have you also watched Robotics;Notes? On a similar vein, but much more obscure and far older, Detonator Orgun sometimes reminds me of those.

Just some general rec's on somewhat similar lines, Broken Blade, or if you want a tear jerker, Voices of a Distant Star.

I'll have to peruse my DVD shelf, see what other obscure gems I can find.. though finding those available these days may be a bit harder. Still, might inspire some other suggestions!

I have seen broken blade, and I thought it was great. The other three though I haven't seen and I'll definitely give them a look. Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestions. Of the list you esuggested I was able to find about half a dozen I haven't seen that sound quite interesting. I had actually been meaning to watch the place promised in our early days but I forgot the name of it.

I just watched Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin. Never heard of it until a couple weeks ago.

Rainbow is a tough watch but good anime- kinda like Japanese lord of the flies?
