I saw this game at a local bestbuy store

they listed it at $40

but online it's $10?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/battleborn-playstation-4/8026158.p?skuId=8026158

wal-mart has the same game (the cover is different though)
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Battleborn-PS4/38457701

is it a bad game or because Overwatch pretty much killed it?

both of the games i mentioned are Pay to play? or online only games?

they are not subscription based like FFXIV right ?

i was thinking of getting it since it's only $10.. but from the reviews.. i'm not so sure

you're better spending your money on another game for $10. there's no solid community in battleborn and it doesn't seem like the devs are supporting it as much the devs are supporting overwatch. overwatch is not pay to play, but you do need a PS+ subscription to play both games. there is no monthly subscription for the game itself though. overwatch has a huge following behind it whereas battleborns community is just about dead.

you'll probably have fun with it for the first hour or so, but then you'll be playing the same 10 people online and that's not fun.

I played the beta and enjoyed the time I spend with it, mostly due to the novelty of a MOBA / shooter hybrid. In the end, I didn't get it because Overwatch came out at the same time and I much preferred that game. On top of that when Battleborn came out, it only had 3 multiplayer game modes with only 2 maps each. A total of 6 maps is unacceptable for a full retail priced game (I didn't care for the single player campaign given what I played in the beta).

Though if you are interested in a MOBA / Shooter hybrid, you might want to check out Smite, it's free to play. I don't know if it's good, but a lot of people on my friend list have been playing this regularly for quite a while.

i heard it was similar to Evolve?-- so soon or later they will turn it into a Free to play game?

I saw Overwatch for $35 ($28 with Gamer Club Unlocked discount)

but being an online only game is a turn off

I think Tom Clancy" Division is also another online only game..

but tom clancy's division has a "internet required" logo in the front.. while there's none for Battleborn or Overwatch so i didn't expect they are online only games without looking them up.

I hear overwatch has a lot of microtransactions? pay to win? it's not that bad is it?

For Battleborn becoming free to play, I've heard rumors, but nothing else.

For The Division, yes it's online only. It's kind of like a third person Destiny with a snap to cover system and minus the sci-fi.

The only microtransactions in Overwatch are Loot Boxes that give you random cosmetic items that have absolutely not impact on performance. You can also earn those loot boxes every time you level up or after you win 3 matches in arcade mode (for arcade mode, you can earn a maximum of 3 loot boxes per week). Every map and new character is free so it's not pay to win, only your skills and game knowledge count (everyone has access to every character, regardless on player level).

Overwatch is online only. It's a PvP centric game. There is the option to go against bots instead of players, but it's not the same experience. Also on Halloween, there was a time limited special co-op horde mode.
Gets It.

Battleborn is an interesting game, to say the least. It feels like the development team has mostly given up because of how active Blizzard's devs are for Overwatch (they may not have the manpower to compete against that). The characters aren't too bad in Battleborn, but I have to say that it feels less "organized" than Overwatch - they're trying to pull off too much for so little. The story mode is good (I did get through all of the stages, without co-op); but the multiplayer is next to dead (the community is kaput on PC/PS4/X1 - I have it on all three because I got each for about $5 between different deals/Humble Bundles).

Not sure what the final product is like, but I played a couple of hours of the beta and promptly deleted it

Battleborn isn't bad at all, it was just promoted poorly and had the unfortunate fate of being released at the same time as Overwatch which is infinitely more stylish and appealing. I only really have one problem with battleborn and that's the progression system, but I had a similar issue with Overwatch, so Battleborn's not too bad. I'd say give it a shot but that would imply that I think there are still people playing it.

sounds like free to play is the best way to go with this game.

thanks for the inputs guys :)

i'll put the $10 toward Rise of the Tomb Raider (ps4) instead.. Wal-mart still has it for $35.. will get this game before it goes up in price again
