Does anyone just have a gif they wouldn't mind me using for situations such as this? The animosity between both groups of voters in the US has gotten so ridiculous that I'm honestly not surprised by anything anymore. I see stuff like this and I'm just like "Yeah, of course they did -_-"

Not exactly, the real election is December 19(?)th for the electoral college, and the electors there are free to vote for whoever they want.

Sure some states have laws against it, but it's just a fine for x hundred dollars. Only around 1% of electoral college voters have voted against what their state chose, though honestly with Trump I'm wondering how the electoral college will vote in the end.

And yeah, they'll probably just get someone else to take the place of the person who resigned.

I'm sort of surprised; it seemed like a lot of the right Christian voters were placated with Pence as VP.

Good of him to stick to his convictions, I suppose?

Not sure, our election system is quite backwards. I think it is up to their state to reappoint an elector by the 19th of December.

Technically our votes are worthless. If all electors decided to vote for some bum in an alley and he was a natural born citizen, over 35 and lived here at least 14 years he'd be our next President.

Now, some states legally bind votes, but half of states have no safeguards in place to punish or prevent faithless electors. So to better answer your question, it depends on what laws Texas has in place.
