Well, there are times when we lead and times when we follow. Someone's gotta decide where we're eating tonight, dammit.

It's not that not everyone can be a leader, it's just that the people fundamentally misunderstand what makes someone a good leader. Anyone can be a leader, but a good leader? That takes a sense of humility and empathy that most aren't willing to invest in.

I may not lead

Be by my side as a friend

A leader is powerless without his followers. Followers are important in their own way and they are the ones that actually get things done. The machine needs all its pieces to operate effectively.

Pretty much. To a degree. Everyone is capable of leading. But not everyone is capable of leading the same amount of people.

While I might be able to lead maybe 200 people, that doesn't mean I can lead 2000 people and expect it to work out.

ishe5555 Anyone can be a leader. People aren't "meant" to do anything. There is no fate, whether one is talking spiritual or genetic.

I first had my start at school. They need to teach basic of leadership in school. You have toxic leaders going around, placing their interest above others and putting everyone behind. It's not that hard, just a skill, something you have to do everyday to get use to. Some people have personalities for it like telling people what to do, how and empowering and enabling people.

If your leader is not mentoring you, pushing and telling you things that will help you become better or become a leader, it's up to you to take it upon yourself to become more.

I don't see much difference between a "leader" and a "follower". The leader is just the one being more assertive, but following directions that were predisposed prior to them taking the direction of leader - thus, he/she is technically a follower. Either if it's from instinctual design or from expectations from society, or molded from the experiences that they've gone through - they've followed a specific course that allowed them to believe that they can instruct another person to do something.

But if you look at it as "assertive" versus "diffident" - you'll find that the vast majority of people are a mix of both depending on surrounding circumstances.

TL;DR: Everybody is a follower

I highly disagree with that. Nobody is meant to do anything. You allow yourself to either lead or follow. That is your choice. It's not destiny. There are plenty of so called "leaders" who shouldn't be leading a flea circus much less a nation. See Trump for that one. There are also plenty of great leaders who aren't leading anything. The best leaders in my opinion are those that follow. The men and women who don't feel that they lead, only that they serve. When one puts the needs of others above their own then they become a great leader.

People need to get over this old fashioned thinking that some are meant to lead while others should follow. It's like the lord's of old who were through luck alone born into royalty. That does not make them great, far from it. It only makes them lucky. Also how does one define a good leader anyway? There are plenty of people out there who would dismiss Obama as an ineffective leader even if the statistics don't back up their claims. I have my opinions but they're only that....opinions. Only history can truly show if one is an effective leader and history like everything else is also susceptible to our flawed opinions.

No one is "meant to" lead or follow. Such objective meanings in the world do not exist, there's just us.

However, some people are more suited to lead than others; people have different personalities and some people are a better fit than others for leadership roles.

Enjoy!!!

I agree.

No, like you said, some people are meant to lead and others are meant to follow or in between

It depends. I don't like that kind of responsibility so I prefer to follow when the leader is good. I won't follow someone I don't think is a good leader. Right now I'm a leader at my current job , I accept it but I would prefer to have the same salary and not have that kind of responsibility.

I'm just lazy and I like to be in the shadows but when it comes down to it and if I have to, I can be a good leader.

But saying one are just one of them...
Sometimes people are just a better leader or person to follow then others depending on the situation or the things going on.
