I've never really understood the big deal over flag burning. It's an ubiquitous piece of cloth, not the Shroud of Tourin.

I'd burn the shroud of turin

Sounds like something ISIS would do.

I better find a basketball or football team to fanatically support and proceed to fervently foam at the mouth during so-called "debates."

Ha. Polarization is what created this damned mess.

straight up, if you dont like it here, then leave. i think that our country has government that is smart enough to manipulate us, and yet on the other side of the same coin far to stupid to govern efficiently all the time. the wall? never gonna happen. i think that immigration should be made more practical and efficient
WE GO THROUGH BACK GROUND CHECKS TO GET A JOB, ALL THAT SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO COME IS TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK AND NOT HAVE WAR OR TERROR RELATED AFFILIATIONS.
people are entitled to their own beliefs and opinions , and are given legal privilege to express them. but for centuries burning a flag is a combative act of disrespect performed by challenging parties, or victors. its amazing that liberals dont understand what socialism is, let alone the facade they have become a marionette to... i did not vote this year because i refused to take a side while i watched friendships end, families tear, cities riot, and flags burn. its amazing that all the trump supporters were labeled violent racists then hillary and bernie supporters rioted. nihilism is sounding pretty good to me right now. i love my country. i love the people in m country of all beliefs and ethnicities, but an overprivileged hipster throwing a tantrum over an election is tantamount to counterproductive. if you truly want someone out of office, petition, ledger, and petition again. there are countless people who share whatever your ideals are, strength in numbers, yo.
but strength in numbers doesnt mean gang up on people who voted opposing your choice. nor does it mean retaliate just because a disgruntled individual or group took actions against you.
assault in the legal sense is any action whether verbal, physical, or other behaviors that causes the opposite party harm or legitimate fear of harm, and honestly, saying pigs in a blanket fry em like bacon is indeed free speech.but on that note saying the n word, or callin a hispanic a spick, or a white a cracker, is STILL free speech.
nobody wants to hear what anyone else thinks, theyre too busy acting childish over what they think. but countless times this year, we have seen actions portrayed on conventional as well as social media that honestly shouldve gotten the offenders shot.
but still nobody wants to state that the african americans are still the biggest killer of african americans.
nobody wants to think rationally about the fact that while you guys are bitching about who is or isnt our COC, there are corrupt politicians living out full careers on both state&/or fed dime AS well as our dimes, non consensually, and the consensual dollars of their supporting investors. the president can not do as much as people say. he is our representative. there are a lot of things a president can do, but without legitimate cause, containment camps are not a realistic concern.
you guys act like trump is gonna make a dakau(not sure if thats how its spelled) for immigrants both legal and illegal.
some mexicans are rapists killers and drug lords
thats a fact. but guess what. some whites are too. some asians are too. some blacks are too. you get my point?
it is truly deplorable that every discussion ive encountered about this online and IRL has merely served to fuel the separation of citizens.
while they make us fight each other, what else are we missing? its so much easier for someone to blame someone else, and thats whats happening on a national level, and that divide between people only grows bigger the longer we choose to sit here and argue over basicly who are team captains should be, or what they will do. let people make their own political decisions without fear of repercussion, just hope that they made an informed choice, and then support em in it, as youd want them to respect your judgement.
if you think about the u.s. government from a historical geopolitical standpoint, we are a baby country in age, as well as in social/political establishment. we still have a lot of shit to deal with, america still has to grow up. almost all great countries have had internal political divide and strife at one point or another, but our inability as a populace to adapt to our metamorphosing political environment amiably only leads us down the path we have been trying to avoid......
if i had a dollar for every debate about this same topic id witnessed, well...... car parts. you get what i mean.
this season has been tense. so i say we kick back, have our drinks, steady our hands , take a breath, and wait and see what happens.
why is everyone trying to assume and to take action when quite honestly none of us know whats truly going on?!

He just talks a lot. I'd take his tweets with a grain of salt if I were you.

The main issue with flag burning is that it's like a public nuisance. It's akin to going out in public nude or with blowhorns and calling it freedom of speech. On top of that, it's a fire in a public place.

If you want to go home and do it, it's fine. But once you're in public, you're supposed to mind your manners and not create disturbances, through intentionally inflammatory behavior or otherwise.

We sort of need to protect some stupid speech in order to safeguard the speech that manners but, at the same time, it's not as though ALL free speech should be protected.
