I've moved this to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum, as it is very clearly a request for Advice and Information, and is not "General Discussion."

You may also promote your channel in the "Enthusiasts' Corner" forum -- If you do that be sure to say a little bit about your recent videos to get folks interested in visiting rather than just posting a link.

Well you have to use an adsense account and have viewers view the video for however many minutes long it is. The longer viewers view a video the more money for that view. (If you're able to monetize the video that is)

Since you're just starting off I don't think you're going to be able to make much unless you get a video that is insanely popular and doesn't contain copyrighted content.

And having not much to work with is going to be quite the problem if you're trying to get popular enough to make money.

Hopefully this helps in some way.

Making money off Youtube may seem like an exciting thing, however, it involves a lot of work to get views to your channel. I would advice focusing more on creating quality content, something that would make your audience want to come back and watch more of your videos. You mention that you want to record your Pokemon battles? Will you be adding commentary? You need to set yourself apart from the rest of the hundreds of people who post the same thing. Post frequently, at least once of twice a week and make good use of relevant tags.

When you start picking up a good amount of consistent views, move on to advertising. Get your channel out there as much as you can without spamming. For example, you can share it on your social media such as Twitter or Facebook. There are groups on FB you can join that can help you advertise and forums that focus on promoting channels. However, it is good to be active instead of linking your channel and quitting.

Research SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization. It helps the chances of your channel appearing higher in the results when a person searches for certain tags. That doesn't mean to start adding random words in your description box. Google will sense that and cause poor results.

In order to display ads on your videos, you will need to have them monetized by linking an Adsense account as well as a Paypal account. You will get to choose what kind of ads will show, such as ones that appear before a video is played. It will depend on who clicks on the ad and how long they view it for.

There's a lot of resources out there that will help you get started. Make sure this is something you love to do instead of just for the money.

I don't really know anything about the monetary aspects of Youtube; but, I do know it's rather complex in that regard. Anyway, I wish you luck in your endeavors on Youtube. Also, I don't really know much about the gaming side of Youtube, other than that it's very popular. So, there's potential for your channel to go viral. I mean, it's a maybe at best though.
