I was tempted to get an Xbox One S, but I may wait for Scorpio next year, and see what becomes of that, before I make a purchase.

Scorpio-- the specs are unknown the price is unknown

some said the Scorpio will be $500-$600.. by then the PS4 pro will probably dropped down in price to $350

The xbox one is lagging because of the $100 difference from the start + other things (no used games, drm, etc..)

console gamers are not pc gamers.. we are console gamers for a reason.. sony /microsoft is trying to turn us into pc gamers.. eh.. good luck with that.

sony learned from the PS3 and not put out another console system at $600 .. $400 is the sweet point for a console.. but even at $400 it's still tough to sell when there's another version for $100 lower..

PS4 pro didn't really sell well either during black friday -- most console gamers will go for the lower price system..

But for me, as a hard of hearing (deaf without hearing aids) I noticed Blu-ray is freaking LOUD! Lets say you want to skip the boring part on the movie so you FF, you can see Subtitles show on there with tree >>>, but with blue ray disc, it doesn't show...it goes FF > to show Subtitles.

But that just me.. but I got to admit other than sound... the picture is Meh.. Its isn't huge WOW!

Now the 4k I'm interested in.. but I'm going to wait on that. Of course 8k or 10k coming out later? :p (I'm just making up the 8k, 10k) but don't be surpirsed if they actually name it 8k or 10k on next generation.

i got it with #1 then. .it might be his eyes.

around your uncle age.. the vision will start to become bad.. does he have cataract ? it's common in older folks.

actually blu-ray movies are not as loud as dvd though (if using tv speakers)

i'm one of those people who will be fine with the TV speakers-- and will not use any sound bar/tower/system.

4K, 5K and 8K.. those are the resolutions they introduced in the past few years.. nothing about 16K yet.. but anymore it's a waste of money (due to visual acuity)

as for 8K.. there's an 8K Glasses- FREE 3D tv it looks pretty good They introduced it during CES 2015

I just remember its 2,200,00 something just for the computer I got and it was Pentium II 266 mhz, 2GB of hard drive, 32mb of ram, and 4 of video ram lol. That is 2,200.00.. can you believed that? nowdays top in line computer worth like what 500 dollar?

My gaming PC worth 2,500.00.

that's two commas right? 2 millions 2 hundreds? dollars? you joking right?

actually.. nevermind.. the first number you used 2 commas but the second number comma and period

$2,200 and $2,500..

not a lot of movies and games support HDR at the moment + there are problem with compatibility issue at the moment as well..

1440p? that's Quad HD.. you have a nexus 6 phone too ? or those Sharp Tvs from 2 years ago? some call it 2K tvs or something?

If you WATCHED it, you wouldn't.

That's why everyone's excited about 4K--
They spent the last six years laughing at something they hadn't seen, and getting hyped for something else they hadn't seen yet.

? i also have a 3D tv.. passive 3D.. i didn't like active.. with 4K.. 3D will be even better since it will be 1080p for each eah instead of half of 1080p with 1080p tv set

i bought the 3D tv because of the 3D gaming hype which didn't last long.. i'll not get another 3D tv ever again

I sit anywhere from 5-8 feet away, depending what I'm doing. Gaming, I sit a little closer to get more in the zone, but with movies, I tend to sit farther back. So even then, I may be sitting too far to really even notice 4K, which I'm fine with.

As for the Blu Ray Players. So far I looking at reviews of the Samsung UBD-K8500, and the Panasonic DMP-UB900, which is crazy expensive, but I'll be waiting for more competition, and a price drop. One particular player, the Sony BDPS6700, seems to just upscale to near 4K, so I'm not too interested in it, compared to the Samsung UBD-K8500, but who knows, the difference between the two, may not be noticeable. Especially at 8 feet away.

You also do bring up a good point, on the cameras they use to record in 4K. I've been checking on some of the shows I watch, like The Ranch and The Grand Tour, which from what I've been reading up on, is filmed with 4K capable cameras.

Also some Youtubers do film in 4K, but if I remember right. Youtube knocks the quality down some, because of the compression they use. I've noticed, uploading 1080p gameplay, that the quality, is a little worse, than the RAW file, that I have. I can only assume, that 4K on Youtube would work the same way.

that's usually what people will do...

when you are looking at the a screen,.. if you have to turn your head to keep track of the action you are too close

this is the reason i don't sit in the first 15 rows of seats in my local theater.. i prefer to sit way in the back

Xbox One S also has a 4K player-- you didn't get one on black friday? it's the cheapest 4K blu-ray player on the market at the moment

it was on sale for $250 .. they even had it for $212 for a few hours (Target and Amazon i think)..

some like stream but i like physical media since the superior video quality is on the disc -- given the compression the video had to go through when streaming..

there's a new video format.. (i forgot the name at the moment)

pretty much it will provide better quality with reduced file size..

from what i heard -- 1 hour of streaming 4K movie will eat up 8GB data-- if you have a data cap on your internet speed you will hit it pretty quickly if you are going 4k

does he have cataract? !! Yes he did, and it was pretty bad.. I was amazed how clear his eye is after the surgery...That was almost 8 year ago.

But sometimes there are stuff that really are free, no strings attached.

I got to attend a Hatsune Miku concert for free at "Segafest" while I was in Akihabara last month, I think it was fan appreciation event or something. Too bad I'm not that into Miku, but it was interesting seeing the people in front (who no doubt lined up way beforehand) really getting into it with the glowstick cheering.... I just stayed for two songs before leaving

Have 4k 43" monitor for my PC. It's basically 4x the old 24" monitors stacked up. It is awesome for multiple windows, like playing games while watching TV.

this was the sale price for this TV on Black Friday.. now it's the normal price ..

the thing is they will charge tax on pre-discounted price so people are actually paying $16-$20 more compare to the current price

I got a 4k Vizio, granted that based on what I do I probably didn't need 4k but I figure its just future proofing and it only costed like 100$ extra anyway. I have my vanilla PS4 (with the megadimension neptunia skin on it) and my PC (which is 4k capable thanks to the 1070) hooked up to it. The only reason I haven't gotten the PS4K is because of my neptunia skin not being able to be put on it.

Honestly if you are in the market to get a new console, get the de-facto newest console. Don't get the vanilla Xbone or PS4 as they will be obsolete sooner than than their current iterations, that and the performance increases with the PS4K and XboneS, unless you are only "playing" visual novels there's little point to getting the vanilla.

I got my TV because I needed one, since I hate playing console games on my PC's monitor, but I didn't want to pay out the nose for an OLED, so I went cheaper now knowing that within the next year or two, when them lovely OLEDs will be cheaper, I will get an OLED and relegate my current tv to someplace else. OLED is (supposedly) superior than LEDs, and on equal footing to a CRT, from a gaming perspective anyway.

But man I must say, gaming on my TV compared to my crappy monitor is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice.

if you are buying a new tv (2017 models)

most likely it will be a 4K tv

2017 will be the year where most manufacturers will phase out 1080p tvs..

Take 1080p (aka 2k) and double the amount of pixels on the screen and you have 4k (aka 2160p).

In theory you can shove more detail onto the screen, I'm not exactly sure how this necessarily affects non-action movies or television but it does affect gaming allowing more details and things into a game at the cost of (unless its an OLED screen) higher response times I believe, and you are limited to the tv being able to only be 30-60hz refresh rate. Anything on the spec-sheet above 60hz is a lie (since 4k panels can only go up to 60hz for now) and is from the software on the tv, and can really degrade a gaming experience, heck even the one time I had it turned on watching an anime was terrible.

And pretty much (as has been said several times) any new TV that is probably bigger than 43 inches will probably be 4k anyway, and the highest quality of television will have the 4k too. Honestly if you have one now, I would recommend waiting a year or two before replacing it when the current top of the line stuff (that blows current main-stream set out of the water) become affordable for the masses.

I don't know why they say its 4k but still use 1080p, i guess it makes it sound bigger than it actually is. Idk I don't like how misleading marketing can be. Just like hearing a cable company advertise an internet connection as "50 megs" not telling you its only 50/8 megabytes. Technically they're right but it makes you think that your download speed is 50 megabytes per second, not 50 megabits (which is really 1/8 of 50).
