What I mean is that standard issue storyline:

1. Special male snowflake arrives at magic/fighting/mecha academy, gets into a fight with Redhead Tsundere after accidently 'copping a feel.'

2. Then somehow a Harem forms -_-

3. You know the names: Asterisks war, Blade Dance of the blah blah, etc.

Are writers still writing those stories? Curious, and I don't hate them all being I've seen em all. But I'm kind of over them, so I wonder if current Manga writers, readers, and the anime market itself is over them too.

You're one of many people who are over them, only to probably be dwarfed by those who gobble it up. It isn't quite as popular though as it once was.

Despite it being a bit cliche I loved The Asterisk War and Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance. I do love stories like these regardless if they seem a bit cliche. Some I dislike (Hybrid X Heart). I don't think there is too many of them and there is lots of diverse anime each season. I'm perfectly fine with it and I love it.

The Memes of Anime will come and go according to market pressures, if no one buys it, it is gone until rediscovered.

I hope they have, I'm getting tired of people saying that those shows are unique, when they have the same type of characters and setting. And they always have the same genres.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight is the worst anime I have ever seen. That is all.

I certainly hope so. Of course, if it has, it will probably only be replaced by some other cliche idea.

I think there were so many of them for a while, that it's bound to decline. To my knowledge, there aren't many this season.
I predict that there's going to be a trend for shows really similar to Re:ZERO to replace them.

Oddly enough we seem to be in a period where many of those another world series are deconstructions of the genre in some way. Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash took a more realistic spin on things, showing that such a world would suck even if things like magic exists. Konosuba took the absurd parody route, finding the humor in the genre(oddly enough Konosuba and Grimgar were aired in the same season so you had people experiencing both the grim realities of this kind of situation and the comedic stupidity of it at the same time). And Re:ZERO just eviscerates the stock tropes of the main character in this situation, pointing out that going to another, magical, world doesn't automatically make them a badass hero whom the world revolves around. They're still the same jamoke they were in the real world.

Needless to say I am quite enjoying this current period in the another world fantasy trend.
