My father and aunt were professional musicians. I took to jazz during tour as a child in NYC back in the '50's. I like all genres, though admittedly some venues are a more acquired taste than others.

Yep, that's the same story with me for liking rap and hip hop except I don't live in LA.

Well ... MTV got me into Hard Rock, Metal, Classic Rock, etc when it debuted. As for my other great love J-Pop/J-Rock/Visual Kei/etc ... that would have to be CR/Funi/TAN/Hulu/etc. I started with specific songs from anime, checked out their other non-anime songs and then checked out similar performers and groups.

I like all kinds of music, and I remember each time I got into a certain kind of music.
First, it was rock. Rock of all sorts, classic rock and early 2000 bands mostly. I started playing guitar hero in middle school and it's what first got me into it. 'When you were young' by The Killers was the first song I can remember that made me feel. I like feeling. I listened to rock, and a little bit of Eminem until about junior year.
Junior year came around, and i started getting into the stuff they'd play at the dances. At the time, It was songs like 'Just A Dream' by Nelly, Rocketeer/ Fly like a G6 by the Far East Movement, and 'Airplanes by B.O.B. My music tastes really started developing this year. At the end of the year, I heard Skrillex, and the started my interest in electric music of all types.
My senior year i was all over the place in the EDM umbrella. My favorites were Porter Robinson, Tiesto( old school mostly), and Rusko.
A couple years after i left high school I got into rap, kinda. I still mostly listened to EDM, but then I tried weed for the first time, and after that fell in love with Rap. Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, TDE.

My music taste is very diverse, and I respect all artists for bringing it into the world. It's not easy, and even if I don't like it, I still respect it.

In My Younger Years, I dealt with some severe Anxiety and Depression. Along with Medication, a Psychiatrist gave Me the names of a few Musicians in the New Age genre: Yanni, Mythos, Enya, Enigma, etc...I really got into it, and while it's not My favorite Genre of Music, as I love all Music equally, I still listen to many of the related Tunes quite often, especially when I'm feeling stressed.

My favorite genre is definetly hip hop. The "addiction" started when i went to bordingschool. Me and some of my mates used to sneak out, during the day/night (anytime when we could get past the teachers) and listen to hiphop and smoke cigarettes (i know.. I was a cool kid..) but after that the music just followed me/us everywhere (and unfortunately did the cigarettes too.)

but if anyone wanna have a reccomendation to what i hear one of my favorites is "Ginseng Strip 2002" - yung lean

A lot of Eminem and Dr. Dre growing up is probably what got me into rap. Eminem was like THE guy. Not so much now but luckily I've found some dope artists in the more recent crop of Hip Hop music.

I don't think I even have a favorite genre

I grew up with 70s -80s music because of my dad (like U2 and A-ha) whereas my mom liked disco, Abba, jazz and Mexican music

I did end up loving classical music

But I kind of listen to music depending on what I feel like listening to

Heres some types of music that I came to love:

Jonathan Richman & Modern Lovers - Egyptian Reggae https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg7WG6tCbrw&index=80&list=PLjFz1Y9OVgQaryXcMsPoPHEEAa2855kPM

Sergio Mendes- E Menina (Hey Girl)
