TL;DR: The Michigan recount was canceled due to massive fraud and manipulation. "There were only exactly 50 paper ballots in a locked sealed box that again was supposed to have 306." Due to the problems they kept the existing results so Trump won it. (Yay, but I am still concerned about the problems) Just recently Michigan started to try and push through voter ID laws in response to this.

http://www.wnd.com/2016/12/recount-uncovers-serious-fraud-in-detroit/

Penny’s precinct, Detroit Precinct #152 had an unbroken seal and everything looked proper. The tag on the box said 306 and the book said 306 and the ticket said 306, so there should be 306 paper ballots on the box, right. Well when they pulled out the ballots the stack seemed short and when they finished separating the two page ballot to count the Presidential page only guess how many ballots were in the box? 304 no, 299 nope, 200 nada, how about 100 wrong again. There were only exactly 50 paper ballots in a locked sealed box that again was supposed to have 306.

Hoft declared, “It looks like Detroit counts each vote more than SIX TIMES! No wonder they get such high turnout rates!”

There was such a problem, the Detroit News reported, “[O]fficials couldn’t reconcile vote totals for 610 of 1,680 precincts during a countywide canvass of vote results late last month.”

The Detroit paper continued, “Most of those are in heavily Democratic Detroit, where the number of ballots in precinct poll books did not match those of voting machine printout reports in 59 percent of precincts, 392 of 662.”

“He blamed the discrepancies on the city’s decade-old voting machines, saying 87 optical scanners broke on Election Day,” the newspaper reported. “Many jammed when voters fed ballots into scanners, which can result in erroneous vote counts if ballots are inserted multiple times. Poll workers are supposed to adjust counters to reflect a single vote but in many cases failed to do so, causing the discrepancies, Baxter said. …

Michigan’s Republican-led House on Wednesday night approved a strict voter identification proposal over strenuous objections from Democrats who argued the plan could disenfranchise properly registered voters.

Michigan voters without photo identification could still cast a provisional ballot under the controversial legislation, but they would have to bring an ID to their local clerk’s office within 10 days of an election in order for their vote to count.

The legislation seeks to “protect the integrity of every single Michigan citizen’s vote, because every vote is diluted if fraudulent votes are cast,” said Rep. Gary Glenn, R-Midland.

Current state law allows registered voters to cast a ballot without photo identification if they sign an affidavit affirming their identity under threat of perjury, an option 18,388 residents used in the Nov. 8 election, according to the Michigan Secretary of State.

Nearly half of those voters were in Wayne County, including 5,834 in Detroit.

I guess it is for the best. I'm surprised they still do paper ballots, even in Detroit.

If you are too lazy to get a valid ID you shouldn't be entitled to vote.

In NJ all you have to do is tell the poll worker your name, sign in the book, and then vote. Technically I could cast anyone's vote as long as their name is in the book.

Me too. That's why I pushed for Trump so hard. He is the only hope we have for some real change and improvements.

Doesn't really sound like a voter ID issue. Sounds like a fraud thing (if it is something after all).

While that is true, voter ID laws make it so people have to vote in their district and a tracking of where registered voters voted. So if only 50 registered voters voted at a station, they'll get in trouble for reporting 300 votes. While you are right that this is clearly a case of fraud, the proposed laws are to help prevent and discourage this kind of fraud.

If for nothing more than entertainment, I recommend watching the project veritas videos on YouTube. They shed light on just how and why this fraud occurs (though I am sure not many of the investigators were brave enough to put their asses on the line by investigating Detroit, lolz).

Not this time. It's more prevalent in Southern states but still having an ID to vote is a good thing. It is still fraud and we need to figure out how such a thing could happen and stop it.

Wait, what does CNN have to do wit-..... Oh I get it. Because I have a differing opinion than your (alt-right) own, I'm automatically a part of the opposing school of thought (liberal). Also, what does Windows have to do with installing gentoo? Are you even trying to GNU+Linux? Are you going to install gentoo or stick with baby's first distro?
pls respond

If the bait is bad, maybe try not taking it next time ;^)

Voter ID is a lot more contentious than that, and for good reason. Either way you have issues. Without voter ID laws you run an increased risk of voter fraud (although I believe most of this can be accounted for by shoring up the systems surrounding voting). With voter ID laws you run the risk of disenfranchising voters (typically poor, minority voters).

Yes, there are issues with the current system but voter ID laws are far from a cure-all.
