SirBacon12 is correct: anime - and fiction in general - is a reflection and commentary on reality. Even more, it's derivable from reality, as it arises out of the creators' experiences and ideas - which can only come from the world as it exists. (We do have to be careful to understand that we can't speak of reality as one coherent thing possessing a proper interpretation.)

So say I laugh at the scene where CC is sad because the giant pizza got ruined. I can understand that in reference to the juxtaposition of the seriousness and the absurdity of life: we humans both seek lofty goals (like freedom, carried out through rebellion) and mean ones (we like good food). I don't know much of the theory of comic relief, but I'd probably be behind something that argues we laugh at things in fiction because we can relate to similar experiences in the world. Even fart noises aren't normal (for a reasonable definition of normal); they're funny because of how we experience them. If I farted at a robot, why would the robot care?

I take it you aren't so much referring to the latter episodes or chapters, eh?

Yes, most times it does. I agree with it to an extent because anime usually makes me smile and laugh more than real life does, but so do some other regular shows that I watch. However when I'm with my family or friends I usually end up laughing and smiling just as much, if not more so, than while watching anime.

Some of the latter episodes and chapters have funny moments in them as well. Like parts of the backstory for Squad Ten. I haven't fully finished the manga yet though, and I was more referring to the anime in my post.

Hm, more often than not it does. Reality has a way of being gloomy and mundane. Granted it's not like that all the time; but, it's that way a lot of the time. Perhaps I just need more excitement in my life? Meh, I guess I don't really care in the end.

To me, anime is like paintball or dungeons and dragons. It is a peek into a world that would be totally fun, if there wasn't the sheer risk of death or permanent injury associated with it. (then again, I watch mostly action, so...)

War would be a lot more fun if the worst that could happen to you is a lot of bruises. Paintball is basically the adrenaline rush of being shot at all the time with the risk of a bruise. (I wish I could say that truthfully. The real worse that could happen to you is that you get mauled by a horny moose and be nicknamed Deerbait for life, or piss off a bunch of hornets, and be running for your life while still getting shot at.)

As much as I want to be a mafia goon just like in 91 days, complete with my m1911 or tommy gun, I would most likely die a horrible death.

Fuck no. When I see a nice cute little pug, I smile the most childish grins ever. When I see a cringe comp, I laugh and love it.

Anime is no different sometimes. Other times it makes me cringe and want to Falcon Punch the ass of my monitor. Call it the Falcon Fisting. Some characters I see make me go just as crazy as my bitch of a single mother does. Shiraume Ume from Bento makes me feel like I don't want to live on the same planet as people who like her type of character. She is a piece of shit.

So no, not at all in agreement.
