This might be a silly question. Yet is a political party and an organization somewhat the same thing. I'm working on a story and I have seven organizations that uses the words "federation" and "alliance". Yet I was wondering if any federation or alliance can be seen as an organization or political party or both. I was just wondering what it is.

What do you think?

Edit: I need to study politics for this story. Oh boy!

As far as i can tell an organization is a group of people working together towards a common goal. A political party is a group of people who has the power to influence government and the operations of a country.....I think.

So they are different in a way?

Not really a political party falls under the term of being an organization much like a corporation or a conglomerate.

Alright.

So do I call the United Nations an organization or political party? Or let me use my own. Would the Federation of United Imperial Nation(my idea) be an organization or political party?

The United Nations would be an Organization. Most likely the Federation would be an Organization or you can call it a Conglomerate.

Alrighty then. Organization it is.

Calling it a political party might just be a fancier way of saying organization.

Well the thing is Organization is a much more broader term and is applicable to your Federation while a political party is nothing more than just an interest group with vested interest, influence and power within a nation's government. So yes political party might be a little bit too small with what your going for.

Question, This is a group of nations banding together to form an organization is their governmental structure combined or do they remain separate form one another?

How can I explain this? Hmm!

Well, the lesser imperial nations have formed an organization against the greater empire who threatens to conquer their nations. This greater empire was once apart of the organization but has done some misdeeds to get booted out. Now the greater empire threatens the lesser imperial nations by trying to conquer them.

I would say they are together on this.

I am sorry that I could not explain it properly. I'm still working out the kinks.

Okay that's fine but since they are an organization I'm assuming they have representatives from each nation to represent the interest of each nation right?

So the basic gist that I'm getting is that each of these nations are still their own entity but banded together under a common interest. When I say they remain their own unique entity what I mean is that they are still keeping their own system of governance.

And hey its fine even I could not explain my story properly just take your time and flesh it out.

I was thinking of having the monarchs gather together to talk about their interest and fight the common enemy.

You know, I've heard of the word but never knew what it meant.

But would that still be considered an organization or not? I get the feeling Oligarchy isn't a organizational thing.
