i started out with Mario on the NES around 1996? but i'll not pay $200 for the NES Classic ..

those scalpers can keep their NES classic.. i'll get the system when it's $30 or something new..

but maybe i just need to use an emulator and play the game again for free instead...

nintendo wii didn't do so well so nintendo wants the spotlight back on them by creating the supply and demand problem on their NES classic..

$200 for a retro system?. the PS4 was $212 ..

TAG. I know it's like the most childish thing ever but it's the most fun thing when you're a kid and you try to outsmart the other person.

Also building forts. Not exactly a game but it was a challenge that I loved doing. Not just a pillow fort but like a tree fort, or a snow fort that looks really cool with a lot of openings and clever add ons.

I just loved being a kid.

NES Classic is only $60.
You can thank the scalpers for raising the price on eBay and Amazon. I stood in line for mine, outside Gamestop. Took me two hours of waiting to ensure that I was one of the seven who got it (this wasn't the first time that I've stood in line for a console "release"). The poor dude that came to open the store had no clue what the hell was being released that morning that had people lined up around the block. They had seven ... I was the fourth person in line (yay, me?). Mostly got it because the girlfriend wanted it.

Video Games I miss as a kid:
  • The Last Ninja (Commodore 64)
  • Bubble Bobble (Commodore 64/NES)
  • The Bard's Tale (Commodore 64)
  • Ninja Gaiden (NES)
  • "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" (PC)
  • "Life & Death" (PC)
  • Chrono Trigger (SNES)
  • Sega Channel/Xband (I know, these were modem-type systems for Genesis/SNES - but I loved the whole "playing video games online" with consoles before it became a "thing" like it is now)

Non-Video Game Games
  • Go - I still play this quite often, though
  • Chess - also still play this from time to time
  • Shogi - haven't played this since I was in Japan!
  • Canasta - I would play this with my babysitter and her family quite alot
  • Gin Rummy - same as above
  • Laser Tag - I've done this a few times in adulthood but I mean those super-cheesy Laser Tag games..

I'd say Kingdom Hearts.

Yes, there was a remake some time ago, but it's still not the same feel you got, when you played it for the first time years ago as a kid.

This is kind of how I feel about a lot of jRPGs, in general. While there have been remakes and sequels to many of them, there's just something to be said for that first jump into that "world". I can play Chrono Trigger endlessly but it isn't exactly the same as it was when I first went through it. It's the ping of nostalgia.
