Hi all, I have a bizarre request. I need a few well-thought-out recommendations of Slice of Life anime series residing here on Crunchyroll for me to ... fall asleep to. Some people like to fall asleep to white noise, a fan blowing, a computer whirring, music and earbuds, water running etc. I accidentally discovered the mental-morphine effect of Flying Witch and after watching and enjoying the season like any other, I began utilizing it to fall asleep to once I no longer needed to wonder what would happen.

Flying Witch in particular somehow maintains the perfect balance of imagery, pleasant music, and non-annoying characters to allow you to simply stop focusing on watching and let the rest of your body turn off without the worry that you missed something--once the series was complete I was able to use it just like any of the examples of what people use to fall asleep to above. Now that I have memorized every single nano-second as a result, it's becoming a little harder to find that particular 'zone' between mild interest and relaxation, because once the entire thing becomes a reflex or motion, it subconsciously resembles the characteristics of a chore; sort of like the aspect of routine.

I was able to find that zone again in Non Non Biyori (sp?) who ironically use a lot of the same voice actors, however there are some disruptive characters that cause it to come up short for my purposes--aka woke me from that glorious half-dream state before passing out. This is probably a peculiar request, so I'm asking anyone willing to offer their opinions what animes they would suggest to fit this unorthodox sleep med I've got going for me.

I'll shut up now and hope my message gets across to the right people. Here's to hoping!

I should probably mention I've tried Gingitsune, that one about two girls and scuba diving, Mushi-shi, and a few other of the genre but nothing quite worked like Flying Witch did. If I knew how to edit my own post I would've included that

Oops I just figured it out. Guess I'll settle for looking silly

I think Flying Witch os probably your best bet. I was going to recommend Kids on the Slope but that apparently isn't on here. If you can find it I think its worth considering. It has some good jazz classics that would help with the whole sleep thing, although that comes with the trade off of having more story.

Yeah it is. Maybe not in Canada idk but it is here in America.

Personally, I'd probably recommend Tanaka-kun is Always Listless. Other than that, maybe Sweetness & Lightning, My Love Story, or Poco's Udon World.

It may not be available to you, since you appear not to be a premium member and in Canada:

On CR:
Usagi Drop -- Soft colors, mostly soft voices
Yosuga no Sora -- If you're falling asleep to it, you probably don't care about the sex or awkward plot elements. But the music and voices are very soothing.

Elsewhere:
Aria series (the animation, the origination, etc.)-- NOT the Scarlet Ammo.
Snow White with the Red Hair
the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya
Inari Kon Kon
Kimikiss: Pure Rouge

Oh I feel the love! Honestly didn't expect many replies at all.

Only one correction, I am a premium member so if that gains me access to otherwise un-suggested titles, please don't hesitate to name them! I'll be going through these, though a few I have already watched--I won't specify them because I am so appreciative of the efforts you guys and gals put into bothering with my silly plea.

<3 Crunchyroll community!

Keep the suggestions coming!

P.S I believe there's a FireFox plugin that allows viewing Crunchyroll through proxies in other countries, giving access to otherwise unavailable titles for users in the states. So long as the recommendations are actually on CR.

Thanks again!

Using such software is still a violation of CR's /ToS, as it is spoofing geolocation tracking.

Hehe pretty sure it violates more than just CRs ToS, but thanks for the reminder.
