Same droid problem with video not loading. I kind of feel better I'm not the only one? Hope there's an update soon.

I just bought an Xperia XZ, because I was getting sick of poor app support on Windows Phone.
Turns out, Crunchyroll doesn't work on the new phone.

Just my luck.

I get it that you guys don't have the budget to deal with thousands of different Android phones running dozens of different Android versions with possibly dozens of different manufacturer mods.
What I don't get, is why we still don't have an HTML5 player, despite complaining about it for years. We wouldn't be needing yet another app for each and every niche device, and we wouldn't have to suffer issues like these.

I really like the idea behind Crunchyroll. The ability to stream whatever anime you want from wherever you want whenever you want, is great.
I also like the effort. I mean, you guys made a Windows Phone app. That's dedication! It's also the reason why I became a subscriber.
However, you have to admit: from a technical point of view, Crunchyroll is a catastrophe...

In case you didn't know, there is one in Beta right now, but Beta releases are only available to Premium Plus subscribers. Just plain premium isn't enough...

I knew there was a HTML5 manga reader, but I did not know about the player. Thanks for the heads-up.

That said, I think it'd be fair to let regular premium users access the HTML5 player, considering it's currently the only way for people running Android 7.0 to actually watch their anime, short of downgrading, buying a new device, or moving to the US.

I mean, we're not paying for streaming-hours here. We're paying for a flat-rate. Every day we can't watch anime because the app isn't working and we have no viable alternative is a day of wasted subscription money.
It's already bad enough that we non-US people get way less shows than those living in NA. Now, the only way we can actually make use of those $7/month is either through a service that's US-only, or by spending over 50% more money for a subscription that offers no added value to people outside the US?

We're already working on it.

My s7 updated last night (Sprint US) to 7.0.1 and the CR app has the same playback issue. You can add me to the list.

VRV doesn't even have the full Crunchyroll catalog - this is not an acceptable workaround, staff needs to actually do something.

That's why it's a "workaround" and not a "fix."

well they have had two and a half months of time to fix the issue but have ignored it. I can only assume they plan to drop support for the Crunchyroll app in favor of vrv in the future. maybe they planned to phase it out but didn't expect a bug to happen.

I believe they fired a significant number of their IT/Dev team in California a month or so ago.

as a premium member I'm disappointed.. I might as well unsubscribe since I end up having to watch on other websites.

Updated android a few days ago to find that the app is incompatible with the new version of Nougat. Then I find out that it's been going on for months and is apparently not a priority. THEN to find there is only an acceptable work around for premium+ members (and yes I tried your awful VRV and it is not an acceptable workaround). Apparently as a premium only member I pay you guys to let me look at pretty thumbnails. All hail our premium+ overlords. Either that or cave to this greedy apathy that forces us to spend more. I seriously hope you've already been making the ethical business decision to credit accounts affected by this with, at the very least, one month. Though you should be doing that until you fix the issue. Keep it up crunchyroll, go on and keep thinking that no one will come to take your place. Don't worry we will all be there to jump ship and watch you sink you comcastian turd.

Another band-aid workaround would be Kodi on Android with the Crunchyroll plugin. I know this works fairly well and should be available to all premium users with all of the content available.
