relaxing. Just got out of work. Quite surprised how many patients I saw for silly things when they should be at home with family.

so today is being considered as Christmas Day for those who are working for the city/state/federal etc.

since Christmas Day was on a Sunday.. so it was a "no count"

seriously? no wonder if you need something done at the dmv or passports.. it will take forever..

This is actually how my company manages holidays too, surprisingly enough (not a government employee even contractually).
Then again, I guess it's kind of normal in some companies to function in the same way. Seeing as the 25th fell on a Sunday this year, I know quite a few people who got off today (Monday, the 26th). I'm back to work tomorrow; even though I have to work from the beach house. It'll be New Years Eve that I'll be traveling back home.

My Christmas was spent playing the games I bought through the Steam sale and reading some books friends bought for me. It was really relaxing.

Yeah, contractors for the government tend to take off even more than those that work for the government directly (believe it or not). When I worked for SAIC, I would work 20 days some months, then 5 another. I'd get paid the same amount, just that we were on retainer for the government for a particular project. When there's questions, follow-ups, and the likes - you work, when you're working on the project - you work. Any time between that, you don't but still get paid for it (in some situations).

Business is going to be hella-slow for the next week or two for me. I'm working from the beach house (starting today) until Friday. I'm almost certain that most of that time, I'll be on the veranda sipping alcohol while waiting for an issue to occur that needs me to fix it. Then again, things have been slow for about a month now.

it's always slow for me during major holidays.. after that it's from sign on to sign off pretty much

i don't like having to return to work after Christmas and then taking January 1st off again..

we should shave December 25th - January 1st off

call it Golden Week or something.. similar to japan
