I don't like it when the milk touches the marshmallows and cereal in my bowl of Lucky Charms Cereal....

It's best when they rub all over each other.

This reminds me of a classmate of mine in a class back in Junior year HS.
We were eating cake and chips. She exclaimed it was gross that my cake and chips were touching. (more of a squealing thing [eeeeewwwwwww], but nothing aggressive )

As some others have said, it depends on the food. Sometimes certain things taste great when their flavors mingle with other foods. Sometimes it makes something far too soggy or sugary or something of the sort.
I'd love having mashed potatoes touching steak, but not... I can't think of anything atm. I'm more akin to leaving good tastes mingle with each other D:

Nonsense.

Maybe I don't like salad touching hot food, then your salad gets all warm and stuff, and it really just ruins the whole dish for me

Such a tragic moment

It doesn't bother me. It could be scrambled together and I would still eat it... except for anything weird on my desert. I'd prefer not having ketchup on cheesecake.

I don't like to mix different foods. I like them all separate, but together it ruins the taste. You put mash potatoes and corn as the example, well, I don't want my mash potatoes to taste sweet or have a crunch. I'm very picky though, my cousin would take advantage of this when she wanted something I had to eat. She would touch my food and I would give it to her because I can't stand anyone touching my food. I'm not sure if that is being picky, OCD, or both.

The only way I'll eat salad warm is if the meat inside it is warm.

Depends on the meal, if you have a curry you've gotta mix it in with the rice or you're a right idiot but there are certain meals that shouldn't be mixed unless you like it that way, I'm not a fan of beans touching breaded chicken, makes the breadcrumbs soggy

So would you prefer to have your corn and mash potatoes on separate sides of the plate where they aren't even near each other?

No, I don't mind if they touch; I'm just opposed to them being mixed with each other.

Tony Shalhoub's titular character on the show "Monk" made an interesting point about this once. He was arranging his food on the plate very carefully, and someone watching said "I take it you don't like your food to touch."

And he said "I don't think anyone does."

When asked to elaborate, he went on to explain that he honestly believes NOBODY actually LIKES their food to touch, but they're afraid of what other people will think if they admit it. So they just go ahead and let their food touch, even though they don't like it, because they care more about what other people think than they do about their own food.

And I kind of carried that to what seemed a logical conclusion. If you just admit that you don't like your food to touch and go to the trouble of not letting it, no matter WHAT people think about it, they'll stop thinking about it real quick because they don't actually give a shit what you do with your food.

This applies to a lot of stuff, incidentally. In an awful lot of cases, you can just say or do whatever the hell you really want to, and people will get over it in no time at all because they don't care.

If you're fat like me and you like to just shove food in your mouth anything goes. I'd take a mouthful of corn and and a mouthful of mashed potatoes and munch like I've never munched before.
