Post Reply Crunchyroll's Anime Awards aren't diverse enough.

Well, the awards were constructed after consulting a panel of experts, but apparently they didn't take into consideration what the community things. It's dominated by Yuri on Ice, Kabaneri, and Mob Psycho and while some of their nominations are deserved, others are most definitely not. And I would have liked to see more than just four nominations for all those categories, especially with the best opening and ending themes as snubbing the first Re:Zero ending as a nominee is just criminal, as well as picking Keijo when it's not even the best comedy of the season (not over Kiss Him, Not Me and Nanbaka). Maybe have six nominees with the last two being community input from stuff like the quarterly awards that we have been doing.

Honestly I would have to disagree with you as Keijo was better then those shows, as Nanbaka does not bring anything new and kiss him and not me is more of a niche thing, but yeah that is the biggest problem is that it is subjective.

That being said only having four option is stupid when they are several anime, they could have at least added two more and not repeat shows that clearly are there just because.

HAHAHA look at all these salty boys

I'm super happy because the only anime I liked is nominated for almost all the awards. and it is one of the most popular shows so it deserves to be there.

It's in bad taste to call people salty when they're stating facts. Most of the shows in this are in most of the categories, shafting more appropriate and deserving shows. I don't want to rag on Yuri On Ice, but to respond to you claiming it deserves to be in most of the categories because of its popularity, it doesn't deserve to be in best animation, because it was average at best. Just because it had nicely choreographed skating scenes doesn't mean the animation was top notch, because it wasn't. Regardless of the... "eagerness" of the fanbase, Yuri and Viktor aren't even a couple, nor is another "couple" in the category, so that category is really just a joke, and it's sad, because we all know Yuri and Viktor will win it anyway. I would even argue that there are more deserving boys for the highly subjective "Best Boy" category than Yuri.

Of course, YOI isn't the only one overrepresented, but I was just addressing the fact that just because it's popular doesn't mean it deserves to be in so many of the categories, especially when there are more deserving shows instead.

I agree. YOI doesn't deserve the best "couple" or animation of the year award. I liked Yuri a lot though I'll vote for Yuri on ice on the best ending and best boy categories.

Just had to check what's all the fuzz about here.

So, i checked the whole thing and my reaction? *sigh*. I realise how good or great YOI, My Hero Academia, Mob Psycho 100 or Erased may be and they were selected by professionals i assume but even so, couldn't some other titles get there too? The previous ones just dominate all the categories.

Still, it's kind of nice to see some titles were mentioned like Kiznaiver, Flip Flappers or how Keijo!!!!!!!! being mentioned as a comedy series. I don't know if it's comedy but it is pretty fun to watch so what the heck.

The voting opens in January, 3, if i recall. If so, i'm most likely going to vote but if there's just those few, it's somewhat disappointing. Maybe someone does their own "Anime of the Year" version in the Forums, who knows...

I agree! I feel like a lot of anime were repeated, when others should have taken their place.

I noticed a lot more Yuri!!! On Ice than I expected, I enjoyed the anime a lot like everyone else, but I definitely think that some other shows should have taken its place, especially because its hype hasn't died down, meaning that a lot of people will be voting for it. I also saw a lot of ERASED (which I really enjoyed) and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. It isn't bad to have repitition if an anime is really good in multiple categories, but I feel like there was far too much here. On a side note, I was dissapointed than Bungou Stray Dogs 2 wasn't nominated for best fight scene, seeing that there was a pretty amazing fight in there, haha!

However, I'm still looking forward to seeing the outcome of the voting, and I'm sure whichever anime wins will have deserved it!

Hell. There are better shows for most of the categories than what is nominated here. These are simply the most hyped awards.

No Doubt Erased deserves its placing in nominations, if not winning its categories...but why the hell is there an ice skating show on here? Drifters should be everyehere...best new anime period...

What I think should be Anime of the Year of 2016. This year brought us some great new anime and sequels. From Dagashi Kashi to Kabaneri to Future Trunks Arc to Diamond Is Unbreakable to Tales Of Zestiria The X to Mob Psycho to D. Gray Man Hallow to Keijo!!! and etc, etc. Here's was the best anime in recent years:

2009: Fairy Tail
2010: Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt
2011: Deadman Wonderland
2012: SAO
2013: Attack On Titan
2014: Tokyo Ghoul
2015: One Punch Man
2016: Keijo or My Hero Academia took it this year

Next Year I think Black Clover, UQ Holder or Tanya The Evil may be Anime Of The Year in 2017.

They did, thankfully, put an "other" option so you can write-in your vote.
