Very pleased that they added an "Other" option on the categories!

Whatever.

We have our own best anime of the year tournament (20xx★Battle) every year here in the forums. The one Crunchyroll is making is just for marketing purposes.
(Btw, I'm woried we won't have our 2016★Battle this year, I know it doesn't come till May but still *crossing fingers*)

I am surprised that these "professionals" did not have Haikyuu!! listed in any category, it certainly at least deserves a nod for best animation.

I haven't even watched any of the "main" animes they listed. The only exception would probably be Re:ZERO which was listed once or twice. Admittedly, 2016 had awful releases but to enforce those consistent 4 or 5 animes is quite absurd and biased. Like really, Yuri!! On Ice? I have nothing against BL genre since it caters to the ladies but at this point, I feel like it's being shoved down my throat when I have zero interest.

i'm so glad Flying Witch is represented, same with Orange, but 'most heartwarming' and that's it? every category is Erased, Yuri!!! On Ice, Mob Psycho 100, My Hero Academy, and Space Patrol Luluko with the occasional extra in a given category. i get they're popular and great shows, but by god Erased in the 'best couple' category?!' they were friends! not a couple! you telling me Orange couldn't get a nod there?! best animation for me is March Comes in like a Lion [sure the mouths are weird but that's the artists style, the whole thing is so soothing like a moving water colour] Digimon Adventures Tri Confession came out in the fall, you telling me it couldn't get a single action, heartwarming, hero or villain nomination? [spoilers that scene where Matt is playing the harmonica as it pans over all the Digimon with their partners?! or that ending where they return to the digital world?! omfg was that sad, and the last second reveal?! nothing?! not a damn thing?!] i get there's always a handful of popular anime every season everyone gushes over [Your Lie in April or Anohana for example] but you're telling me of all the shows in CR and FUNimations libraries this year, there was only 5 good ones? [also didn't Food Wars season two come out 2016? i'm suppose to belief Keijo!!! is the better comedy?]

sorry to rant, i love the idea, and i love votes as well and finding new animes, but it's the same handfull in each category with the exception of comedy [which still has one of them] and the occasional carrot of obscurity dangled before us surrounded by 4 powerhouses!

also, just a side thing, could you change the photo for Orange? i loved Orange, but i had no idea wtf you were talking about until i clicked the link.'KAKERU AND SUWA LEARN TO UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER'? more like 'the classroom scene where Suwa tells Kakeru he has friends and shouldn't think about suicide!' i know that's spoiler territory, but you have a spoiler for Erased in the Villain section with a warning. same with Flying Witch, easily one of my favourites this year and my favourite of the spring [yup, more than Erased] it's a sweet show best described 'what if Kiki grew up' it's sweet and calm and adorable, and of all the scenes, of all the categories you go with that one? i suppose it's the only one that fits [maybe a best slice of life section next year?] but it feels more like some executive looked over the nominations and went 'people will be pissed it's all the same handful. pick *points at screen* this one and that one and this one and put them somewhere so we look unbiase'

Isn't this just an obvious troll job by Crunchyroll to grab attention for specific shows? It's just a clever ad designed to rile you up into talking about the small selection of anime they are highlighting.

If you looked at the list and realized it was trash the way I did, you should be ignoring these awards entirely.

I'm certainly glad that there's an option to pick something else because there were a number of shows that got snubbed for nominations that I'm none too pleased about, I utilized that option a few times, so at least those overlooked nominees can be recognized.

If you weren't happy with the CR Ad-wards 2016, might I suggest you check out the 2016 Forum Awards:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-979349/-crunchyroll-forum-anime-2016-awards-

It's already looking a lot better than the official CR results.

And the results are in. I'm kind of disappointed to those. Sure, YOI, Erased, and such may be great but to "conquer" the most, if not all the categories is a let-down. Still, it' nice to see some other shows mentioned like Re: Zero (obvious one), and Joker Game. And what's more, there's more on CR's Facebook page with people talking about it. See for yourself. Finally, i got ad-like e-mail few days ago considering the contest. It's titled was like this: See who you vote. Nothing but a lie, i hardly see anything I VOTE. Compared to CR's front page which says: See the winners now! What the hell? Couldn't they use the same title?

Since the Anime Awards was a big let-down, at least i can post my OWN Anime Awards 2016 in the link below. Thanks for that!

Thank You! I was trying to make this point earlier today. I made a statement about Yuri on Ice being in 80% of the categories and how there should have been more of a variety of categories for all anime in 2016 but the fans felt like I was hating on it even though I did watch it. so glad I am not the only one who feels that the awards weren't diverse enough.

Very disappointed with CR's "results". It's painfully obvious that they're trying to shove YOI down the community's throats. I did like the series for what it is (and I really hope it inspires more figure-skating anime), but it definitely didn't deserve half the categories it won. Best Animation? Come on, really? Kabaneri and Drifters both had animation that easily blew YOI out of the water in that category.

This is my thought! Haikyuu had GORGEOUS animation this year and not a thing. I felt my heart pumping the most this season. Also I really wish that Suwa from Orange was in the running for Best Boy. I would of voted for him in a heart beat. </3
