I will second the call for Crest/Banner of the stars.... classic scifi there (I once spent a night marathoning that series... took me 17 hours)

Kimagure Orange Road, one of my personal favorites 87-88 seasons, 48 TV eps, 8 OVA's, 2 movies (that first one hurts so hard)

Yeah it was brutal but it played out pretty realistically.

I liked the manga ending better though, Hikaru wasn't as much of a tool and kept her dignity intact

Not sure what you mean. The guy can't carry a tune. It clashes like swordplay in my ears.

I'd love to be able to watch Irresponsible Captain Tylor and Vampire Hunter D on Crunchyroll.

Same, Kenichi is one of my favorites. Also I wouldn't mind having Ranma 1/2 on Crunchyroll.

I think very few have a good grasp on what a classic anime is.

Was a joke since the op has a line that everybody makes fun of. It goes "so put your glasses on and nothing will be wrong" but it sounds like "so put your grasses on and nothing will be wong".

Classic anime to most people is whatever it was they grew up with. That's why a lot of people consider DBZ and Naruto to be classics.

I second a lot of the recommends posted here. Let me add two more.

Scrapped Princess; 2003 A fantasy/ Sci-Fi with a great characters and a good plot.
.

Finally Crunchyroll has Scrapped Princess becuase of the Funimation merger.
I rewatched it , I forgot how annoying she was but the plot is indeed good but what cracked me up was they were all eating Japanese dish and at times with chopsticks which I didn't noticed before or forgot
This one had a very good english dub as well. Reminds me of the time I took Crispin's class
