Tell what is the worst ending to a story by picking any of these options. Whether novels, manga, anime, television, or something else, there is something with a terrible about a horrid ending.

Here are the options. Choose wisely:

A. Dream. The main character dreamt the whole events that took place in the story and it ends in the main character waking up.

B. Flashback. The main character talks about the events that already happened. We learn that it's a flashback from by the end of the story not beginning.

C. Cliffhangers. The story ends with a cliffhanger that tells you there is more to come. Sadly there isn't more to come.

D. Everyone dies. A good story where you are rooting for the characters to live and win. But suddenly the author decides that they aren't worth living and every single one of them dies.

E. Evil wins. Good loses and evil takes it's place as victor. Some might agree that it's a nice change from the everyday cliché. While others do not. Either way it can become a terrible ending

F. Sacrifice. The main character ends their life to save the day instead of simply finding another solution. I guess there are no other solutions.

G. Happily Ever After. Some stories aren't Disney. Some stories are based on realism. To add a sappy happily ever after might ruin the whole story.

H. Nothing Happens. An ending where you would think the main character would have changed his or her mind or actions. Nope. Nothing changes. It leaves a sour taste in the reader's mouth.

I. Sad ending. Whether death or something else. The main character does not gets his or hers happy ending.

J. Complexity. A ending so complex and confusing that either makes sense or does not make sense. Either way it leaves you think until your head hurts. They only way it's becomes a horrible ending is because nothing will explain the ending. You'll have to figure it out yourself.

K. Plot holes. The story ends with nothing explained. How annoying!

If you can't decide from these options, make up your own. List down examples if you have to.

I would have made a poll but I have too many options to list. Now some of you might find that these options aren't all that bad. That's why I am letting you make your own if you can't decide.

I say A, it feels like such a cop out

Also shout out to Tokyo Ghoul's ending, one of, if not the worst, ending I've ever seen

The dream
It says. "I couldn't think of an ending"
The other one's except for plot hole ending can be done well.

That is my least favorite as well.

There's nothing worse than these three.

I would say C, if that was truly the case. The others can either valid endings, or is directly influenced from the writer's/creator's own idea. Not having an ending is the only thing that irritates me anymore. Although Inception did a relatively good job with the whole "dream" ending.

It's really unfair when a good story ends with a cliffhanger and the creator just ups and decides not to finish the story.

It's the same for me. It makes the whole time I spent reading / watching the story feel like a complete waste of time.

It's the reason I don't buy tv series blu-ray until a series is over. There are far to many shows that end a season on a cliffhanger (to generate interest for the next season) but with a decision to renew a series or not coming after the season has aired.

Just think of the ending to the last season of Farscape. Luckily, In that case, fan outcry pushed the producers to actually finish the story instead of ending that series of that horrible cliffhanger.

Yeah, it's pretty annoying. And feels like the creator just gave up on it.

Ugh..honestly dream endings and endings where everyone dies tick me off. The reason the dream ending makes me upset is because it seems like in the end there was nothing worth reading. There was nothing ever there. And I can't stand that! It was never real. It makes me feel as if the book isn't real either. I might sound weird saying that, but that's how it is for me. And when everyone dies, WHY WRITE A BOOK AND KILL EVERYONE!? I don't see the point in that. Ending a book with everyone dying is painful and unsatisfying. At least that's how I feel.

Exactly. But dream endings bother me more than everyone dying.
