Cool, start citing your evidence. What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. You seem to have a specific event in mind so get to it.

Yeah, its just the "closed proprietary nature"...

Once again, put up or shut up - evidence or GTFO.

3 words:

root key certificate

(maybe you'll figure out how that answers both)

Your speculation isn't evidence, once again, evidence or GTFO.

Wow, hard to hear you over the deafening sound of no evidence.

You're probably referring to the speculation that MS included government issued/compromised root certificates in an update which conspiracy theorists went off the deep end with. You realize this isn't actually evidence so attempt to protect your sorry ego in the process. After all, if the government wanted they could directly compromise a CA without the need of MS even lifting a finger.

Doofus, MS GAVE the NSA their own root key certificate for every OS they have made, beginning with win98SE - and then lied to everyone saying they only had 2 root key certificates. Do you understand the implications? The government can walk right into your microsoft os'd device and not even worry about authentication.

You think there's some article out there outlining this? Good luck finding it! I found this out in fkn 1999 and nobody writes jack shit about it.

As I said in my first comment,

Naivete.

Microsoft has been toying with open source lately, especially in the enterprise realm (Azure Web Platform, for example). This was no surprise to me when it was first announced, considering some of the moves that Microsoft had made in the past few years.

zinjashike is right regarding some of the paranoia in this thread (which isn't unexpected, considering the forum were on at the moment). There have been some root key certificates that were used as means for rootkit insertion (Dell and Lenovo, especially). But it's a far cry from evidence correlating to the claims made thus far.

I knew you didn't have shit, thanks for proving it.

Gee, maybe you didn't want to link anything that contradicts your speculation.

There was a recent CA update for windows which some idiots freaked out about in 2015, you just seemed the type to fall into that category.

Microsoft have a horrible, horrible PR team that made the worst possible way of introducing windows 10
(remember how clicking the X button was actually a consent to install 10? that wasn't nice at all. same with surreptitiously making windows 10 a "recommended" update and installing on users PC without their express permission)
having said that, people apparently found ways to work around most of the privacy issues with windows 10, though you need to know a little bit on how to mess with the registry and stuff. nothing too complicated, but Microsoft could have made it easier to opt out of telemetry stuff.
as for joining the Linux Foundation, i don't see why that would be a bad thing. standard compliance is a good thing, no?

been doing this stuff since before you were born, pal *shrugs* but dont let a 20+ year industry expert tell YOU anything

yeah, 2015, that's the ticket, keep telling yourself I'm lying and didnt find this out from other experts 17, 18 years ago

nope it was just critical OS updates, yeah, that's it!

Cool, provide your credentials then as you're speaking on authority now. As an industry expert I expect you to have various degrees in mathematics and cryptography, history in reverse engineering, and significant development time in C and assembler - since you're asserting a key had a specific use that other industry experts disagreed with.

OH, so YOU'RE not the expert, they are - and it's second hand.

No, you waste mine. You don't want to post your supposed source because it debunks you itself:

Source

Most security experts disagreed you dolt.

Hell, for all your moaning there's even a fucking Wiki
